If you are a musician, do not waste your time with this card. The latency issue is so bad, it makes this worthless!

Summary: Eventhough I saw some negative posts on here and also some fixes to correct issues also. I decided to take a chance with this card. Pros- The card sounds great. Is very clean and it seems like you have lots of control when you use it.
Pros: Followed steps listed in prior posts to install. Works with headphones. Haven't tried it with speakers yet.
Cons: Claimed they never received my rebate; fortunately I have copies of everything. Mailed 3 rebates to Asus and two other rebates at same time at same post office; both other two rebate handlers acknowledged receipt within two weeks; Asus claims they haven't received it and told me to resubmit.
Summary: The sound quality of this card is decent, much better than I expected out of a ~$30 sound card. I've been using a PCI Soundblaster Audigy card with 5.1 speakers for the last few years and the Xonar sounds just as good if not better.
Summary: Let's cut to the chase. The driver installation of this audio card is extremely non-user-friendly. It refused to install on my Windows 8.1 platform, saying ASUS Xonar DSX Audio does not exist, the installation program will be terminated now." Thanks to the internet, I found the solution.
Pros: + Cheap but commendable + Comes with a mini-ITX I/O plate just in case + Works in PCI-E 2.0 X16 lane
Summary: I got this card when the on board audio on my HP I7 PC stopped working. I had to fiddle with the driver for hours to get it working....maybe a compatibility issue with the on board card. After that it works ok. Can't tell any differences between the on board.
Beware if you buy it for the digital (SPDIF) output

Summary: I ordered this card to obtain a digital output (SPDIF) that I could feed to my receiver. So if you do not intend to use the digital output, you can skip this review and just go by the other fine reviews of this card.
Good sound - Optical Out - read review for reason on 3 star review

Summary: Bought this sound card so I could hook up the kid's PC to the surround system in his room. Typically HDMI out from his video card should do the trick, but the surround system was a gift and not of very high quality so I needed to have optical out from the PC to the optical in on the surround.
Summary: The card is very decent not as good as what I had in the past, but the main usages for the card was to send Dolby headphone to my external dac amp optical. The card is not perfect tho as I had issues where the sound would static and pop even times where it would stop working correctly.
Summary: May want to lookup: Xonar EEPROM Failure. After unplugging and reseating the card, I can still sometimes get the same error during installation that the card is not connected. Granted, the PCI express card does feel that it's to not seat firmly since the card is long and a little pressure on the end...
Pros: - Noticeable difference between onboard Audio - Price
Cons: - Driver Installation is a pain - Very quiet front panel volume Error during installation may be related to a different issue, but it says: "Please connect device" or something along those lines. See Other Thoughts.
