Good sound - Optical Out - read review for reason on 3 star review
20 July 2014
Summary: Bought this sound card so I could hook up the kid's PC to the surround system in his room. Typically HDMI out from his video card should do the trick, but the surround system was a gift and not of very high quality so I needed to have optical out from the PC to the optical in on the surround. Make sure before you purchase that you know if your computer has PCI or PCIE slots as it will save you a return.
Summary: The card is very decent not as good as what I had in the past, but the main usages for the card was to send Dolby headphone to my external dac amp optical. The card is not perfect tho as I had issues where the sound would static and pop even times where it would stop working correctly. Asus driver support could be better, As well when asio would glitch while I producing music, or Listening to music.
Summary: The DGX does not amplify the front panel header, only the rear which completely defeated the purpose for me. My card also liked to disappear from the device manager requiring me to physically move it to a different slot pretty often. I've had zero issue with the PCI DG that replaced this.
Summary: Drivers were causing games to crash and many multimedia programs to suffer the same fate. Consider this a 1 star review for all intents and purposes.
Pros: Small, PCI-Express 1x, Digital out, Headphone Amp
Cons: My PC was having random game crashes to desktop. I was ready to rip my hair out after about 3 days. I finally uninstalled the drivers for this sound card and removed it from my PC...now a week later I am 100% problem free. Onboard is good enough for me, it's not worth the hassle for this model.
A good card that's a pain in the backside to get running but it's worth it.

Summary: TLDR: It's a pain in the backside but worth the effort.. The DGX is a good budget card but be prepared to do a number of things to get it working. I first started by slotting the card into a PCIE x1 on my main PC running Windows 7 which promptly found a PCI bus but the card itself was not detected at all, reseated the card thinking it was loose.. Same result.
Summary: Seller: George and Freddie ------------------------------------ Item arrived the next day. Was not a "new" product as its seal was broken (eg: its already been open and/or used). Device ----------------------------------- When using "headphone mode", the headphone amp generates background noise/hiss. "Speaker" mode is fine, although, defeats the point of the headphone amp. The card is great when using speaker mode, cant fault it.
Summary: Cannot see what the advantage of this headphone thing was all about ......no special switch over without messing about ,and then I could not tell any difference.....Just a Xoner sound card at the end of the day....
Summary: This is quite a good sound card, they can be buggy as a lot of people including myself have received broken cards. Amazon replaced it and it has been working well since. The sound is great and so is the surround sound, my only problem is when i am gaming I get a buzzing sound through my headset, I have tried it with 3 different types of headphones, moved my graphics card an sound card further away from each other but still no matter what I get a buzzing sound.
Summary: Ok so I've had this soundcard for a day now, and I'm fairly impressed. . . for £20 you can't really complain. I have a Maximus V Gene board, and I was hoping this would work in the PCI-E X4 slot, but it only works in the PCI-E X16 slot, which now locates it directly beneath my GPU It's not a huge issue as the card doesn't take up much airflow space, but not ideal.
Speaker headphone jack only....... forget front audio panel

Summary: I was really looking forward to fitting this in my pc with the headphone amp feature being the main reason I bought it. My pc has a convenient front panel to connect my headphones into for when I wish to indulge in either a bit of gaming or listening to music. Card installation and driver install worked first time on Asus Z87-A. I used drivers on CD. The card does automatically switch when headphones are inserted into front panel and mutes speakers.
