Summary: For the last few builds I have done,I have had nothing but problems with the sound cards,at least at first I thought it was the sound cards being faulty.I installed the drivers and set up my sound card(tweaks)to my liking before I downloaded the drivers for my graphics cards. For some reason the Asus...
Pros: Sound quality is great.I currently have this set up with the Logitech Z 5500-5.1 and sounds really nice.GO TO OTHER THOUGHTS
Cons: Asus support gets the -1 Egg.Support out of a possible 10 score would get a 6.5.Not great but not bad.The drivers for this sound card would not work properly,in other words they are outdated and do not perform well,so-SEE OTHER THOUGHTS-------------------------
Summary: The drivers have improved greatly over the past few years, but they are still rather awkward to use. They haven't blue-screened on me at all since the last driver update (January 2010). If you enjoy high-quality music, or do sound production, this card's quality is hard to beat.
Pros: By far the best sound quality of any soundcard I've owned. Slick black heat spreader. Nice illuminated and color-coded connector panel in the back.
Cons: Crummy ASUS drivers. Requires a separate internal power cable (similar to FDD power connector).
Summary: Considering I spent a large amount of dough on this thing figuring Asus would be above the driver issues that turned me away from Creative, I've been disappointed with the way this thing has been treated post-release.
Pros: Amazing sound quality. Peace of mind when the ancient PCI bus is finally phased out (this being the PCI-E version and all). Different colored LED lights for every input in back aren't just a gimmick; they really help you find the right inputs, especially with a computer beneath a desk in a crampe...
Cons: Driver updates were frequent and reliable back when this card was a little newer. There have only been 2 official releases for Windows 7, one of those being for the beta of the OS. This would be fine if they'd actually have fixed all the problems it has, but they haven't Frequent incompatibilitie...
Summary: Enjoy the card. For as long as you aren't moving your tower around a lot you shouldn't have any problems with the connections. If your audio is low make sure that power cable is snug.
Pros: The reviews are right. Music on this bad boy sounds AMAZING! I upgraded from an Audigy2 ZS and was able to turn down my 5.1 speakers 25 "notches" because of the power this guy was putting out. Crystal clear and I'm glad I'm not using creative products anymore.
Cons: The power connector is pretty flimsy on the back of the card. If you don't plug it in far enough you're audio goes down to about 10% of what it should be. If you plug it in too far you'll bend the hell out of the pins. This uses a floppy power cable FYI, make sure you have one on your PSU. I coul...
Summary: The profile of this card is not as small as youw ould think, if you try to use it in a build with 3-way SLI, you probably will not have room for it. Something to keep in mind.
Pros: Incredible Sound, every connection imaginable except one comes with the sound card (more on that later). Good software package. Pretty lights :)
Cons: This sound card requires an external power source, specifically it used an old floppy 4-pin connector. My new PS, did not have that connection, fortunately I scrounged my parts bin, and found and old adapter that had a Floppy Power connector on it. Something you may need to buy if you dont have o...
Summary: This this is an AWESOME card, but also expensive. It does have some nice software w/ it but it doesn't make up for the occasional blue screens while gaming. I'm sure that'll be fixed with new drivers eventually though.
Pros: Great card. Best sound quality I've ever heard from a PC!
Cons: Requires external power. Has drive issue causing blue screens in winXP. No issues yet with Vista though.
Summary: The card for music, is outstanding. The card for gaming, sounds great but you loose some EAX effects.
Pros: Sound quality is unmatched. It simply sounds amazing. It looks great for sure in your case, especially with the lights.
Cons: Drivers are iffy. I downloaded the unofficial drivers off of ASUS forum. They work pretty well. Not very good EAX. Yes I understand it does not support the newer EAX but coming off a XFi, I can definitely tell in games the difference that EAX makes. Its great to play in dolby digital ext but you ...
Summary: Mercifully, Asus does not force a bunch of bloatware on you when you install the drivers. In the box were several CDs, 1 CD had just drivers and a program that lets you configure your speakers and calibrate the soundcard. The other CDs had various bits of software for playing music etc.
Pros: The sound is really great. I upgraded from motherboard sound to this card, and the improvement is definitely noticeable.
Cons: I had issues getting the card to recognize my 5.1 speakers w hen using the latest drivers from the ASUS web page. I had to go through several iterations of installing and installing drivers before I finally find drivers that worked on Vista 64.
