Summary: I have had this card for a while now... but wished I had gotten it refunded before it was too late. Instead, I decided I would try to figure out what the problem was myself. I wouldn't recommend this card to anyone.
Pros: Looks really cool with the lights.
Cons: Drivers are terrible, channels (LF, RF, etc) are messed up, won't play surround sound when it should.
Summary: For all the power this thing has, for all its features, was it really that hard for the engineers to make sure the analog plugs actually worked correctly when plugged into a powered speaker system such as the Logitech Z-530? I bought this as an alternative to Sound Blaster, and guess what?
Pros: Well, it looked nice, installation was a breeze. Other than that, NOTHING.
Cons: Did everything in my power, used the knowledge of the web to be able to get the analog channels to come up correctly. By that I mean LF is really LEFT FRONT, not REAR RIGHT! No matter how you plugged it in, it never, ever came out of the speakers it was supposed to. I gave up after a week.
Summary: I have had an X-fi that i loved but the creative is not the company i used to love. Driver support is a joke just as is with asus. Asus is now another product i will stay away from because of bad products and bad support as well.
Pros: Its not made by creative/sound blaster
Cons: Where do i start, this is the worst sound card i had ever used. I was not able to get it to work at all in windows 7 at all. I tried various drivers and NON of them worked. The drivers are not updated very often from what people said on the asus fourms. Now i am stuck back on onboard sound :(
Summary: I would look elsewhere for your gaming needs, there are better and cheaper solutions on here, also this card is REALLY not meant for the gamer. Most games do not use a sampling rate higher than 48khz, and this unit is somewhat of an overkill.
Pros: I honestly can't think of many - Windows XP this card works rather well.
Cons: Hands down the most error prone Sound Card I ever owned, PC user for 25+ years. In Windows 7 64-bit, the drivers for this card are horrendous, at best. The DSP mode doesn't even work if you put the sampling rate beyond 48khz, if you have an audio system capable of supporting a higher sampling rat...
Cons: I was troubleshooting the thing like crrazy trying to get it to work again. I tried it in diferent systems, OS, etc. I finally called to get it RMA'd but apparantly I had just run out of my warranty period (1 year?)
Pros: Excellent sound when playing already-recorded music.
Cons: Not usable for playing an instrument through the line-in while monitoring. There is a 1/4 to 1/2 second delay. When I called Asus support, I was told that I should return the card because it is defective. However research on the Asus Support Forum found that other people have had the same problem...
Great !! for Movies-Music but NOT!! if you need MIC or INPUT!!

Summary: So for me i return my D2X, got my $money$ back, so if your never gonna use the MIC/INPUT of this Card buy it. BUT !! If you will......RUN!! get another card. Oh ya Creative-X-Fi cards are still no--good Still has "Pops and Hiss Sounds !!" started with PCI and PCi-Ex cards, what a shame....
Pros: Sounds GREAT! for Music, Movie-PlayBack and PowerFULL Audio-play back and im using Z-5500 5.1 Speaker setup.
Cons: Well i had moved on from D2X and from [Creative/which is the worst] the only Con! for this Card i dont see most dont know is: Audio INPUT & MIC is Super LOW !!! cant even change-MAX it. Even on ASUS -->on its own Web-Site --> 100's of users have the same problem....ASUS wont even FIX the input an...
Excerpt: I've had this card for several years and it has served me well on 3 different PCs. Whether you want to turn your PC sound experience into a 7.1 home theater setup or just maximize the quality of your headset & microphone, this card performs!
