  • Summary: IMO, its an ok purchase, not that great though. Not much better than onboard hd sound for gaming.
  • Pros: A lot of adjustable settings to suit your listening needs.
  • Cons: Loop noises if your running Wins 7 and playing games with GX enabled (loop noises occur when alt tabbing out of game to desktop, but does not occur when you alt tab back into the game). Problem can be solved by disabling GX

Works but not as well as hoped

MDS, Amazon

  • Summary: This card is great in that it is low profile, PCI, and has Optical Audio Out which were the main considerations for me. I have unfortunately ended up replacing it though as after one week of use it was not meeting my expectations. The card was installed in a HTPC running Windows 7 and set to play all media, TV, DVDs etc through Media Center on our principal TV.

  • Excerpt: better than the onboard sound card. it will convert analog to DTS useing the optical cable(not integrated) i have to say this card sucks for gameing. iv tryed playing games with a bunch of diffent settings. the onboard i have sounds alot much better when playing games. the low profile set up makes it hard to plug in nicer three.5 mm jacks.

  • Excerpt: Great sound and effortless if basic interface. Great quality construct and materials Poor drivers from Asus. The drivers for Asus are not any greater than Inventive. They have slow service and updates I was utilizing this in an HTPC, but this sound card conflicts with my Tv tuner. It will record Television, but has no picture. This has been confirmed in two various computers with 3 various sound cards. One particular computer was a brand new install.

  • Excerpt: Alot of customization. Lots or functions. Falls quick of the sound excellent persons rave about. There are cards out there that delivers much better quality sound for a more affordable cost. Im not a fan or the user interface either. I owned the xf-i xtreme gamer as nicely. which in comparison delivers superior sound top quality more than this card. Only if inventive supplied superior driver help.

  • Excerpt: It's greater than Creative and doesn't crash on you Their set up software is odd, for some cause if you have a five.1 set up, it asks you to set up the rear speakers as side spakers. It's not compatible with AMD 780몮 boards, and they've been promising a fix. I just identified out by going to their web page. Only acquiring 2.1 channels it does not recognize my rear speakers no matter exactly where I plug the wires to.

  • Excerpt: Good sound Quality, well built, and is supported by linux. Horrible drivers, Asio support is a joke. May well function greater on windows XP or a 32 bit process but on mine, Windows 7 64 bit Traktor and even Pinnacle studio don't operate due to poor Asio assistance Repair the drivers and it would be an wonderful card. Aside from the drivers its what i wanted. Also the "mail in rebate" from new egg never ever happened, I didn't even get the mail in slip with the card..

  • Excerpt: I really can't say enough fantastic things about this card. Nevertheless, I wish I could leave the cons section blank. Anyway, Pc games and music each sound unbelievable. Astounding clarity that overpowers any of the Inventive cards I've owned. Computer software is intuitive and effortless to manipulate with an appealing UI. Simple to recommend for W7 64-bit customers. I find it hard to believe that more folks have not knowledgeable this subsequent situation.

  • Excerpt: Good HiFi sound when it operates. Drivers worked fine in Win7ኜ. Keeps looping sounds when apps or games crash and you have to reboot to get rid of the 1 sec loop. Sometimes you can disable/enable the device in the devie manager but not always. Installs all kinds of applications as auto start.

ASUS Xonar D1 Sound Card

  • Excerpt: installed simple on Win XP Pro I believed it would be an upgrade from my sound blaster live, but it wasnt at all. My old sb reside card was louder and sounded just as good or greater. This card is an upgrade from onboard , I guess ???It appears like a great card ,but not significantly different from onboard sound in my opinion. I gave it three stars simply because it installed easy and it appears to be produced well.
