Great sound Quality, Terrible drivers

John S., Newegg
31 March 2011
  • Summary: Fix the drivers and it would be an amazing card. Aside from the drivers its what i wanted. Also the "mail in rebate" from new egg never happened, I didn't even get the mail in slip with the card..
  • Pros: Great sound Quality, well built, and is supported by linux.
  • Cons: Horrible drivers, Asio support is a joke. May function better on windows XP or a 32 bit system but on mine, Windows 7 64 bit Traktor and even Pinnacle studio don't work due to poor Asio support

  • Summary: IMO, its an ok purchase, not that great though. Not much better than onboard hd sound for gaming.
  • Pros: A lot of adjustable settings to suit your listening needs.
  • Cons: Loop noises if your running Wins 7 and playing games with GX enabled (loop noises occur when alt tabbing out of game to desktop, but does not occur when you alt tab back into the game). Problem can be solved by disabling GX

Great sound but gets stuck looping

Mattias F., Newegg
12 October 2010
  • Summary: Nice positive difference from Mobo sound but ultimately a letdown since it gets stuck looping wheh an app doesn't shutdown itself properly which is quite often. Would return it if I could since it's not worth the hassle.
  • Pros: Great HiFi sound when it works. Drivers worked fine in Win7/64.
  • Cons: Keeps looping sounds when apps or games crash and you have to reboot to remove the 1 sec loop. Sometimes you can disable/enable the device in the devie manager but not always. Installs all kinds of applications as auto start.

Great, but not without its issues . . .

Eddie T., Newegg
2 August 2010
  • Summary: I believe I've covered everything.
  • Pros: I really can't say enough great things about this card. However, I wish I could leave the cons section blank. Anyway, PC games and music both sound incredible. Amazing clarity that overpowers any of the Creative cards I've owned. Software is intuitive and easy to manipulate with an attractive UI....
  • Cons: I find it tough to believe that more people have not experienced this next issue. I've scoured the next and no one seems to be having this problem. I have the audio from my Xbox 360 running through the line-in port. Great functionality, but there are frequent pops and crackling noises that are ve...

  • Summary: the low profile set up makes it hard to plug in nicer 3.5 mm jacks.
  • Pros: better than the onboard sound card. it will convert analog to DTS useing the optical cable(not included)
  • Cons: i have to say this card sucks for gameing. iv tryed playing games with a bunch of diffent settings. the onboard i have sounds alot better when playing games.

Not the best!

Lilleth M., Newegg
16 April 2010
  • Summary: I owned the xf-i xtreme gamer as well. which in comparison delivers superior sound quality over this card. Only if creative provided better driver support.
  • Pros: Alot of customization. Lots or features.
  • Cons: Falls short of the sound quality people rave about. There are cards out there that delivers better quality sound for a cheaper price. Im not a fan or the user interface either.

Can't record with it. :(

Anonymous, Newegg
28 August 2009
  • Summary: Sound is okay. I mean what do you want, it's just a regular sound card. I don't play games so I cannot comment on that aspect. The rear connector that is a combo line-in/mic-in/SPDIF-out could be very limiting to some users.
  • Pros: Very simple card with small driver footprint. Access to front panel audio is a good feature that should be on all sound cards.
  • Cons: My recording application (Adobe Audition) will not pick up a signal so I cannot use this card. I tried every option in the mixer and never got anything recorded. Also, I could not record through the rear input. Believe me, I tried everything. My other card (an HT OMEGA Striker) and the mainboard ...

Works but not as well as hoped

MDS, Amazon
9 October 2013
  • Summary: This card is great in that it is low profile, PCI, and has Optical Audio Out which were the main considerations for me. I have unfortunately ended up replacing it though as after one week of use it was not meeting my expectations.

ASUS Xonar D1 Sound Card

Mayda, pricebat.ca
26 July 2013
  • Excerpt: Great sound and effortless if basic interface. Great quality construct and materials Poor drivers from Asus. The drivers for Asus are not any greater than Inventive. They have slow service and updates I was utilizing this in an HTPC, but this sound card conflicts with my Tv tuner.
