Summary: While I am an avid gamer and would provide a full 5 star to this sound card if it were purely advertised and functioned for gaming, it dosent quite deliver in the music department right out of the box. I am thinking of the consumer here. It took me a good week of deep tweaking and numerous mods I finally got it to the point of near perfection, in my eyes. Then again everyone is different and the next guy may love this to death for music.
Pros: Deep System Audio processing is Modifieable, Easy to Install Software modifications
Summary: I've searched internet for a great sound card to fit my 5.1 audio system (Logitech Z5500) with direct connection. I came across this card will searching for headphones. Hooked up this card with Sennheiser PC320 and sound quality is amazing. Never tough an headphone amp would make such difference. Glad I bought this card.
Pros: -Amazing sound quality, -Can plug headphone and up to 7.1 audio system at the same time
Cons: -Necessity of a 6 pin power connector, -Cannot talk on skype and have a game playing on my 5.1 audio system at the same time (really not a big deal)
Summary: Replaced a dead Xonar Essence with this and ASUS has improved everything moving forward - both hardware and software. The breakout box is extremely handy if you do any online gaming and use a headset, and its noise cancellation when paired with a headset is especially impressive. Not many people will shell out the $200 for a sound card of this calibre, but if you do and are a gamer I'd definitely recommend the Phoebus.
Pros: Improved Control Panel, Breakout Box Is Awesome
Summary: This is by far the best sound card I have ever owned. It has a built in mic on the handy breakaway box so I can use my Sennheiser HD 558 (Which sound amazing with the headphone amp)and still communicate with the team. The problem with BF3 and punkbuster has been fixed with the new beta drivers from the ASUS website so don't worry about that when considering this card. The bottom line is this card is amazing for listening to music, playing games, and watching movies.
Pros: Headphone Amp, Sound quality, Breakaway box, Built in mic on the breakaway box
Summary: Before to buy, first I read lot about xonar phoebus on internet, I read some people experience matter with bf3 and diablo3 and other game with this audio card, so I was hesitant to buy, I have take my chance I install last from asus website driver version 220.127.116.11 At this time I play several hours to Diablo3 and Bf3 and got no issue I continue to be impress by the sound in games / positioning and sound quality.
Pros: -Very good positioning in game (D3, BF3 etc...) better xfi & d2x, -Sound quality for music/movies are equal to xonar d2x, -The driver console is convenient, -The dock for headphone/headset is very pratical
Summary: Got this ordered on 17th at 11am, arrived the next day at 11:15am - excellent service again Overclockers, thanks!
Had time to have a good look at this quality ROG gaming product having moved on from Creative's Fatal1ity, no worries/regrets whatsoever!
Crystal clear sound, excellent support for a variety of cans (mine's the Sennheiser PC350 @150ohms).
Summary: I bought this after hearing it at a show.I like to get the best total package so the cost is not a great leap if you have just got a £400 gpu.All the features are great and work very well although im still playing with it.The poor point is the extra power adaptor cable which i found too short (100mm) for my case / psu .
Summary: I have just bought this card and first off wow what a card, anyone who tells me onboard is the same quality as a deadicated soundcard has not heard one of these.
Secondly I have sli and bf3 and have found no issues at all with this card when running the latest beta drivers.
