Summary: Use for all media including gaming with HD 589's. Biggest con is the unresponsive and ugly software. The unresponsive part is only when going to advanced headphone settings. 50% of the time it is unresponsive and you haven to go to task manager close the program and try again until it works. A LARGE waste of time.
Pros: Sounds like 200$, Convenient external pod, Powerful effective headphone amp, Aesthetically pleasing through window
Cons: Software is slow and unresponsive and ugly as sin itself, onboard sound UI looks better. (Only if you like to toggle DTS on and off will this be a problem)
Summary: the reason I bought this card is I like the Dolby home theater 4 application, which gives me much more option to adjust tonality and equalize to my preference. With that said I feel the card is overpriced for what you receive it seems that my sound quality actually went down from what I received from my motherboard the Asus rampage extreme.
Incredibly buggy drivers and lots of static on bose/beats headphones

Summary: The quality of the sound card is fantastic, better than any Creative I've seen. The software settings and dolby manager are great additions to what should be a fantastic product. However, if you make any change in the software settings (Like, changing the Sound Mode to First Person Shooter, or Racing Game, or Music) the software makes the change, then locks up and freezes and WILL NOT work again until you restart your computer. Every time without fail.
Summary: For everyday use this is great and would work well for music and videos. Excellent sound quality. Unfortunately, if you want this to use while playing mohw, save your money. The drivers are bad and you will crash repeatedly. I am not hopeful they will fix quickly as it took 6 months to get new drivers out to fix bf3 crashes. I never tested with that game so cannot say whether it fixed the problem or not though the release notes say it did.
Pros: Ingame sound is great.More control over how the sound is delivered to your speakers or headset than standard onboard sound.
Cons: Bad drivers crash medal of honor warfighter. Tinny sound quality to voice in voip programs.
Summary: This card is simply not ready for prime time. The hardware appears to be well made (solid construction and quality components) and the external control box is great addition, but the current drivers are seriously lacking. You can check on ASUS ROG forum to know more, but the card is basically useless in BF3 multiplayer (they are working on a fix for the Punkbuster compatibility issue but it as been problematic for almost a month).
Pros: - Great sound quality, - Solid construction and quality components, - External control box
Summary: its one of the best cards for gaming.
If your running sli and using 16x slots beware you may have issues with BF3.
Asus are aware of probs and are fixing it but as of yet no fix ready. Compared to the Creative HD Platinum the Phoebus is still the best if not for the game freezes, sound loop backs and pops hopefully drivers will fix this or maybe a newer version.
Summary: The sound from this card is lovely just take my word for it ,and yes its not cheap to buy but the features are great if you like playing games . Now for the "BUT" ,it seems to have a driver issue that stops you playing some games on line (bf3 being one). This is a total shame gived that is basicly the purpose of this card and hopefully there will be an update soon too sort this out . So no 5 stars yet !!
Conclusion: de som spiller Battlefield 3.
