Summary: I appreciate good audio but I'm not an expert. I do however play many games often and enjoy listening to music from time to time. This was a large improvement from my ALC1150 on-board audio which couldn't fully power my Sennheiser PC 350 SE due to the on-board's low powered headphone Amp. This didn't improve my gaming skills but it did enhance my overall experience in games. The features that came with the product were a nice inclusion.
Summary: This is an excellent sound card. The adaptor works great when using headphones and you have the ability to set up your speakers and environment as you desire. I use the optical out along with an amp as I am using some high end headphones and I find the card to work very well. Also, with the latest drivers, you can select, under games, several pre-sets which is nice. I do find the sound, even when listening to music to be very good.
Summary: Bought this card to enhance the sound of my Razer Tiamat 7.1 headset. Love it. I won't buy another creative card unless they can outdo this one. It's pricey, but it's in the top for gaming. Honestly, it's almost like cheating in a game when you can hear someone walking up behind you or from the side.
Summary: i got this version because of the small...control...thing.... excellent quality, easy to use with all headsets, and the control thing has an excellent directional microphone that is easy and picks up my voice well despite the large amounts of audio devices
Summary: I'll admit, I'm not an "audiophile." But I do appreciate good sound, especially when gaming and listening to music. I bought this card to replace an aging Soundblaster X-Fi Titanium card -- Not being impressed with recent offerings from Creative, I decided to give Asus a go, since everything else they make is awesome. I'm not at all disappointed in this purchase. This card can actually push my Sennhesier PC 350SE headset.
Summary: The drivers for this sound card do not work correctly! I have spent several hours and several attempts with Asus support trying to get this OVER PRICED piece of junk working. You would think that a 200 dollar sound card would be fantastic, well the only thing fantastic about this sound card is it is a royal pain in the A@#. After installing this sound card several games would no longer even run, they would crash when trying to launch.
Summary: Bear with me as this might be a bit lengthy. I bought a new gaming rig in January 2013 which only had on board sound. :-( I immediately bought a Sound Blaster Zx from Creative Labs. It had decent sound and software for tweaking your sound to your liking but whenever I rebooted the computer I had to go into my playback devices and select the card as default. I saw this card on Amazon by accident.
Summary: I got this to use with my digital pipe organ program, so it was not used for gaming. My goal was to have high-quality and accurate sound. This unit delivers. I especially like the remote volume and mic/headphone box. One thing that I did find buggy was that it senses if you have plugged in your headphones and alters the program somehow. This causes some issues with my organ program but may have some advantages for your gaming experience.
