Summary: Bought as a present but ladies please dont buy this for your fellas! I could live with the average shaving performance if the foils, which tend to need replacing frequently, we're not so expensive. The real con is that you have to buy new cutters which you don't need. Looking on eBay it is almost as cheap to buy a new one - not that I shall be buying another! Big tip - check the price of the spares before buying any shaver and don't buy the F5790.
Summary: I've had this razor for about a year, so a good time to review. Anything more than 24 hr stubble it struggles with. It will not even touch grey hair, so i have to go over my face with a BIC to catch the hairs missed. Unfortunately i'm skint at the moment so instead of a new razor i'm having to make do with buying a new foil for this one, which incidentally comes with trimmers which i'll never use.
Summary: I thought I could save myself a few quid by buying this, but it has been a false economy. I can't get on with it at all. It leaves me sore and picking at stray hairs all day. After two months I have bought a Braun, which I have always used in the past. Twice the price but three times the quality. I won't make the same mistake again.
Summary: Shave - not bad but you have to go over some areas several times. Design - On/off button in terrible position. Beard trimmer likewise. Foil life - 6-7 months. I've had four in the two years of owning this shaver. Expensive to run, as new foils cannot be purchased separately; they come in foil+cutter packs. The cutters are a completely unnecessary additional expense (presumably to boost Remington's profits). Last time, I fitted the foil only (ie.
Summary: It simply doesn't do the job. It doesn't shave the face clean no matter how hard one tries. I've experimented over 8 weeks, using different angles and pressures, hoping things would improve. They haven't. I wouldn't mind so much if I had a thick stubble, but I don't. I have a relative easy to shave face. I think I shall return to my 10 years old Philips rotary which still gives a clean shave and, at the side of the Remington, is a model of engineering efficiency.
disappointed shaver "long term 3-foil shaver", Amazon
31 May 2010
Summary: I am disappointed with the F5790 despite being a life long satisfied Remmington 3-foil shaver user. I decided to replace one with a broken power socket with the F5790 latest 3-foil model having not been able to find any others. I'm disappointed as I assummed that the most recent in a long line of Remmington 3-foil shavers would be the best. Instead it's the worse.
