Summary: This is hands the worst electric shaver I've ever used. What the heck happened to Norelco?? My 20 year old Norelco was blazing fast and sharp and lasted like that for a good 20 years before the battery died. This newer model is slow, irritates my skin, doesn't cut close and takes me forever to shave my face with it and it still does a crummy job. It's completely useless. Stay away from this product!!
Pros: I'm an older person and have used many devices to shave. This machine takes less time than others. It cuts the hair off in only a few passes with no noticeable stubble. It works good with 4-5 day growth. It can be cleaned with water.
Cons: At first my neck got irritated using it but after a month or so it was much better. The booklet with it described that might happen at first.
Pros: I got this to replace an older Norelco/Philips XP that was about 3x this price when new, but now needs new heads, and probably a battery at some point, as it's going on 5 years.. Buying this model would be about the same cost as the replacement parts for my older one. This one does not shave quite as well, i.e. it takes more passes to shave totally cleanly, but it does its job. It also has no indicator lights for charging or cleaning reminder, but that's OK, I can kee...
Cons: I am a little surprised that the heads do not shave as quickly or efficiently as the more costly XP model, but then I was sort of anticipating that .. Funny, they look about the same, and I assumed that the cost saving was for the 'frills' - charging and other indicator lights, etc. Not really a con though, as you get what you pay, and this little shaver is worth more than the apprx. 1/3 cost of the higher model ..
Summary: If you are not interested in a close shave and will not care if your face is slightly burned, this is the shaver for you. I have followed Norelco's use guide lines closely, and have ended up with the same shave after a month as I had at the beginning. Have tried using the recommended pre shave lotion, still the same thing, a poor quality shave and an uncomfortable face. Many years ago, I used a Norelco triple head razor when they first came out.
