Summary: This is the fourth Philips shaver I have had, and this is the best. The Lithium Ion battery lasts for a long trip, so you don't need to pack the charger. The nose/ear hair trimmer works well, and is also the best one I have had.
Summary: We ordered an Norelco electric shaver. We were emailed to confirm the order, and several updates with dates when it was anticipated to ship. Emailed again when it shipped and date of arrival. It was a easy and pleasant experience.
Summary: Used an Arcitec for 5 years which had mediocre reviews but worked OK for my light beard. When the replacement heads got above $60 I decided it was time for a new shaver. I can tell this one shaves much closer and takes fewer passes for complete coverage. And its very comfortable to use. Should be good for a heavy beard.
Summary: I'm in my 60's and started using electrics in my 50's for the convenience as opposed to the safety razor routine. Yes, in my opinion it takes time for your face to get used to an electric. I liked not having to deal with the water, lather, nicks and the time it takes to shave with a safety razor. I have owned several brands of foil razors prior to purchasing this rotary razor.
Summary: I had an older Norelco model and waiting to buy a new one. This package including an extra blade set ($25 value) was a deal I couldn't resist. It takes couple of weeks to get used to new blades.
Pros: price an extra set of blades trimmer washable
Summary: From the reviews & from the looks of the product, i thought it would help me replace my shaver. I don't like shaving per se. So i was expecting this product would replace my need for shaving. So i tried the dry mode of this shaver. But it took so long for me to get even approximately close to real shave. The product isn't too noisy, but i dont think it gets the job done. Plus, the trimmer for sideburns & moustache doesn't match the shaver result.
Summary: I've been using electric shavers for over 50 years; before that (and occasionally since) both straight and safety razors. I've had shavers by Schick, Sunbeam, Remington, Norelco, Braun (and maybe some others whose names I've forgotten), but this Norelco Aquatec 880 is by far the best yet. When I first got it, I used it dry (wet-shaving with an electric just seemed so counter-intuitive to me), and I was struck by how quiet and gentle it is.
