Summary: Every morning I find myself smiling over my decision to buy this razor. I thought it was relatively expensive, but I was ready to try something better than what I already had. So, my review compares the ES-LA63 to my other foil razor... (1) For an electric razor, I feel it's comparatively quiet. With my other razor, I used to have to go to the other end of the house so that I would not wake up my wife. (2) It does the job in just one or two swipes over an area.
Pros: Easy to use, Exceeded expectations, relatively quiet
Summary: Purchased for use on my head and am completely satisfied. Shaves as close as a blade without the nicks I sometimes get on the back of my head. Tried on my face and neck and an equally satisfied. I will use it dry on my face for a quick touch up. I previously returned a wet/dry rotary after having poor results on my head and very uncomfortable experience on my neck. This Panasonic is definitely my new favorite appliance.
Pros: Inexpensive, Easy to use, Exceeded expectations, Convenient, close shave
Summary: When I started shaving there were very few options available: single razor blades, straight-edge, disposables and a few electric models. I tried everything. Back then, the electric razors I tried, pulled on the hairs rather than cutting them so I gave-up on electric razors believing that my beard was just too tough for an electric to handle. There's no argument that the 2, 3, 4 and 5 blade razors revolutionized shaving starting in the late 1980's / early 1990's.
Summary: I'm 58 years old and have never been able to use an electric razor. Every one I've tried would work fine on my cheeks but would rip and tear the skin on my neck .. as it is with most men. From the first time I tried this razor I knew instantly how good it was. It is as smooth on my sensitive neck skin as anything I could ask for. I even shave twice a day sometimes, because of my "shadow".
Pros: Easy to use, Exceeded expectations, Convenient, very smooth on senitive skin
After 4 Years of Arc 4 ES8243A, a non-bias quick review
8 February 2013
Summary: Skin type: super sensitive Hair type: coarse Hair density: medium to heavy Have happily owned a Panasonic ES8243A Arc 4 for the last 4 and a half years without complaint. Was time to order replacement blades so I decided to look at the new options available. Here is my quick review of the updated ES-LA63-S Yes, Panasonic still makes the world's best shavers. I've owned a very expensive Braun which did not get this close. Any Arc 4 is going to get you RAZOR CLOSENESS.
Summary: I recently purchased a 8103s (another panasonic shaver) and was extremely impressed by the quality of the product considering the price. I was so impressed that I wanted to upgrade to a better shaver (it didn't get the hairs under my neck however), so thanks to panasonic's liberal return policy, I went for a more expensive and higher spec model: the esla63s. This is an amazing razor.
Summary: As I have aged, my facial hair has become progressively more difficult to shave. Through the years, I've tried most of the top brands of shavers with varying success. For a while, I heard Braun was the best and owned about three of them, but was never happy with the length of time it took me to shave or the closeness. One of them had a battery that failed as soon as the warranty ran out.
Summary: I never write reviews, but this will be my act of charity for the week. Yes!! This shaver is great. I have looked for at least 8 years for a shaver that would not irritate my upper lip and neck. I have tried the best of braun, 3d, cheep electric razors, wet shave with a straight razor, shower shave with cheep razors, the best Gillette offers, and wet shave of course. I can honestly say that for me, wet shave is always necessary and not something that just feels good.
Summary: I purchased this on a Black Friday deal in 2010, the list price was a little much for me. My airline has recently lost my last electric (a hair pulling torture device made by Norelco). I almost sent the airline a thank you card. I have been using this shaver almost every day for one year, it is without a doubt the best I have ever used. Previous electric shavers: Purchased in 2000: Braun bar style, sub par shaving and battery life.
