Summary: Have had Norelco/Phillips shavers for over 40 years and thought I would try this Braun based on information found in Consumer Reports. In summary, the Braun does NOT provide a better shave than the Norelco/Phillips, costs twice as much, is very noisy, and the cleaning station is a total pain to use. I must frequently refer back to the instructions to understand the indicator light and proper use of the buttons.
Summary: This is the second razor that I bought of this model. The first was 3 or 4 years ago and have not had any major problems with it. I have replaced the head two times and the cleaner base worked great too. The swivel head on it is one of the main things I like about it as I did try another razor that didn't have that and don't like it at all. I travel a lot and this works great even with just doing a couple day trip without doing a cleaning on the machine.
Summary: I have used a competitors' product (remember the guy who liked the shaver so much he bought the company) for 50 years. I was loyal but increasingly found the shavers cheaply made with a short useful life. The final straw was when the local service facility told me that the shavers were so cheaply made they were not worth repairing - just toss it out and buy a new replacement.
Summary: I had a Panasonic Vortex for about 7years. It worked great for me because of my sensitive skin. I finally decided to get the Braun 790 , and I absolutely love it. Great shaver and easy on my face. Even better than my old shaver. Definitely worth the money and I highly recommend.
Summary: I've had many electric shavers over the years and was never exactly 100 percent happy with any of them. While this shaver seemed a little pricey I accept the fact that sometimes you pay a little more for better quality. Such was the case here. Loved the shaver from the start, shaves close, feels good. Love the different settings and features plus the charging/cleaning station. Sort of can't wait to use it everyday, find it fun to use.
Summary: Very nice shaver. Love the 3 different shaving modes (speeds). Very cllose shave and the head stays nice and cool during longer use. Price at $175 USD vs $350 CAD. Huge difference. Cleaning cycles are quick. Trimmer is a bit awkward vs older Braun synchro models.
Summary: I bought this electric razor system as a gift for my husband, who has been an electric razor user for nearly 30 years. This electric razor came with a charger port/holder which is a cleaning system. The cleaning system has cartridges which contain the cleaning solution. The razor itself does a great job on a thick, course beard. It is super quiet, so no more feeling so much sound vibration that you have dentist flashbacks!
Summary: This is his third Braun. He's a life-time fan - loves especially the self-cleaning feature. It has eliminated most all of his skin problems from shaving. Cleaning cycle is a bit noisier than his previous units, but overall it works exactly as advertised, and he is a happy camper!
Summary: I got this razor when it was on sale for $200. Would I have paid more for it? No, because there are electric shavers that do just as well for much less. But the quality of the cut is better than my old Norelco Coolskin. It cleans easily but claims being dirty quite a bit. This is how they get you.
