Summary: Purchased for my husband when he could no longer find the lotion required by his old razor. He has a fairly heavy beard and is very pleased with the performance of the Braun. If he hasn't shaved for several days (over a long week-end or vacation) he still needs to pre-shave with a disposable. He's never found an electric that can do that job. Research showed Walmart had the best price online and the shaver arrived super quickly.
Summary: With the design offering ease of use and lack of complication, there are several features I find attractive. One is the change of speed. I find that on the second speed for myself works wonders on the neck area. This feature allows for a personalized shave allowing me to adjust to my needs. I enjoy the cleaning system!
Summary: In terms of "does it shave" then answer is yes. The shave is close and smooth. It does take a little more time than my old (OLD) Norelco, but the results are better. On the negative side, I bought the razor online without ever handling one. Even if I handled one, I might have missed the fact that automatic cleaning is via a reservoir of alcohol like fluid. This requires handling of the charger/cleaner unit with care.
Summary: I've liked Braun shavers in the past but I think my beard/facial hair has become very tough, too tough for even the series 7. It would possibly be sufficient for 5 o'clock shadows for me but anything more than that it becomes torturous. The flip-up trimmer is also awkward since the body of the shaver isn't transparent, it makes it difficult to trim. I guess I'll have to stick with straight razors.
