Summary: I bought my Singer 8280 seven years ago for $80 at Target. I use it frequently for simple tayloring and sometimes for re-design. I clean and oil it periodically. It has been a wonderful support for me all these years. It is great product for the price.
Summary: This machine was so hard to thread as the "take up lever" didn't go up high enough to put thread through. I had to use a needle threader and attempt to push the end upwards to be able to put the thread into. I took this machine back for replacement but the new one had the same problem.
Summary: I bought this machine years ago. I needed a new machine and my budget was limited. I have more than made my money back on this little gem. The reasons I didn't give it 5 Stars is the difficulty of finding the correct Size 15 bobbins (where to buy them?), the button hole attachment doesn't work right (I finally gave up and luckily don't make too many items that require button holes!). Now that my machine has so many miles on it, the thread bunches after sewing 1/2 inch.
Pros: Good Value, Easy To Use, Good For Basic Sewing
Cons: Thread Bunches Up With No Solution On How To Fix
Summary: I've been using the SINGER product ever since I was 13 years old (my very first machine). My last machine i dropped it and it broke. My daughter gave me the 8280 PRELUDE and I love it. I am so excited with my new machine. I just got it 2 days ago for christmas, and I've already started and completed a few projects. Love it, love it and love it... Thank you SINGER and thank you to me wonderful daughter, for the wonderful gift.
Pros: Good Value, Great Features, Easy To Use, High Quality
Cons: Has No Case...but It's Okay I Will Make A Cover For It.
Summary: The thread from the bobbin gets horribly snarled up. When I try to use the button foot, it snarls up even more and breaks the needle. My extremely experienced mother inlaw even tried to get it to work with no luck.
