Summary: Seem to b fine I think this is a great machine for any one that is sewing crafts for sure..Lots of choices of stitches and eazy threading wish I had gotten it long time ago might not be the best for some but good for me
Summary: This machine is my first Singer purchase and I found it was a good value and easy to use. I recommend it for beginning/intermediate sewers. I've used this machine continually, short of it's 2-year purchase, making a number of wheelchair bags, lap quilts and miscellaneous craft items.
Cons: Durability: I bent the whole sewing machine shaft when sewing a well padded Quilt and using the Even/Walking Foot for the first time.
Summary: To oil or not to oil? That seems to be the question - which nobody answers. Why not write replies to the reviews? Would that not be of more value than just publishing reviews? Yes, the machine is rather noisy, which is okay if one doesn’t worry about it and keep wondering if it should not be oiled? Like so many reviewers I myself also have a 60/70 year old Singer, still in working order and would like to beat that record.
Summary: For the most part these are wonderful machines. I had purchased 6 for the sewing room at work. Three had to be returned to the store for various reasons. On two of them, the needle threaders didn't work. On the other one, the needle position was incorrect. It was too set too far forward and the needle was hitting the presser foot as it sewed and broke every needle until we figured out what the problem was.
Summary: The first few months I used this machine is good but I also noticed a big problem with the bobbin and its always jamming up, so very frustrated with this machine, its not heavy duty after all. Threads keep on breaking whatever adjustment I do. Singer you need to improve this model. no. or just cancel it from your line of product. This machine is not even a year when I bought it but its already broken.
Summary: I really like the Singer Model 4423 because it works the way I want and has handled all fabrics I have worked with thus far. Due to weight loss, I am altering many articles of clothing, and am impressed with the consistent quality of the sewing.
Some history: This is my second Singer: the one I purchased in ~1972 had a chronic problem of messing up the thread in the bobbin area. Even my mother who could take a Singer apart and fix anything, could not fix this one.
Summary: I didn't realize how "heavy-duty" this machine was until I saw a few videos on Youtube. I'm so glad I purchased this machine now that I know all of the details. Yes, I could have read the manual, but to see this machine in action was a treat. I don't know that I'll actually sew threw several layer of leather, or sew through a wooden yard stick, but I know I'll be doing some levi hemming in the near future. I love this machine!
Summary: Its so nice to work on a new machine rather than my mom's 50 year old one. Solidly made, love the automatic needle threader. Perfect for me - who enjoys making basic pillow cases and curtains and for mending projects.
Pros: Good Value, Great Features, Easy To Use, High Quality
