Summary: I bought this last year in May and didn't start taking it out of the box until this spring for I also have a Brother, Janome Emerald Husqvarna and Brother Lock. Since I got laid off I started sewing more to make extra money, I was a bit disappointed that it didn't sound right in the beginning and the thread get crumpled a lot at the bottom, so I just set it aside and use what I have due to downtime using.
Summary: The first year I had my sewing machine, which I had not sewed on it a few projects, 2 pillows made. The the whole bobbin casing pops out. Had fixed. Then brought home and started sewing on it again and the bobbin case pops out and all of my stitches are messed up this time. Now I am debating on where to take it to have them fix it. The place I took it before couldn't fix it.
Summary: The cost of basic service is high. The nearest service center it an hour away. I could go on and on about the disappointment, but I'm just disgusted. The machine was a Christmas gift and now its junk. I should be able to repair minor tension problems, but even in 2014 the directions offer little or no help and there are no videos on you tube or this website for troubleshoot these problems.
Summary: It was a very reasonable price. Super easy to use. I love that it has serveral stretch stitches and button hole styles. I like making things for the house and clothes for the kids. This machine makes it easy and decorative. I'm having fun trying out all the stitches.
Pros: Good Value, Great Features, Easy To Use, High Quality, Strong And Strudy
Cons: Could Use A Better Stitch Guide / Quick Reference Chart
Summary: I absolutely had no sewing experience. I read the manual and viewed the video and pretty soon I was sewing. It pretty much paid for itself with all the alteration I have done in a few months I have been using it.
Pros: Good Value, Great Features, Easy To Use, High Quality, Auto Threading Is A Must Have
Cons: Expensive, Wish There Are Embroider Features .
Summary: I am of the old school sewing machines, where all would easily sew through denim. I had purchased a nice Brother machine from Costco only to have to return it because the machine simply was not durable or reliable regarding its stitching. I have had my new Singer 8870 Curvy for several months and I have used it for stretch to denim fabrics. It is a really nice sewing machine.
Pros: Good Value, Great Features, Easy To Use, High Quality, Good User Manual
Cons: Needs Better And Much More Extensive Singer 8870 Curvy Video Training For Registered Owners
Summary: MY MACHINE WORKED FINE UNTIL I WAS SEWING SOME VELCRO AND IT STOPPED WORKING AND WON'T SEW AT ALL NOW. I CALLED JOANNE FABRICS AND THEY SAID IT WAS OVER 3 MONTHS OLD SO THEY WON'T REPLACE IT AND IT WILL HAVE TO BE REPAIRED. I AM NOT HAPPY ABOUT IT.
Summary: What a great sewing machine, I thought I didn't really need a new one......but. It's so much easier to use than my last one.Love being able to put a button in and it makes the right size button hole.So many stitches to choose from and easy to do.Like the fact that it's a little bigger machine, infact there's not a thing I don't like about it!
Pros: Good Value, Great Features, Easy To Use, High Quality
