Summary: After using my machine for a couple small projects I am happy with the results! Every time I turn it on and lower the needle the first time it makes a mechanical noise which I was worried about at first but since it happens every time I've decided it's just a routine part of gearing up.
Summary: I am not an experienced sewer, but I have done hems and odd jobs for years. This is so much nicer than my old machine, and I think that over the years the prices have become fairly reasonable. So far I used the straight stitch and a stitch for sewing elastic.
Pros: Good Value, Great Features, Easy To Use, There Are Lots Of Stitches And Techniques To Learn With This Machine.
Cons: It Seems To Be Made For Much Shorter Person.
Summary: I just started a beginner's sewing class and my fashion mate has plenty of bells and whistles to keep me busy experimenting. Very diverse stitch collection and the automatic threader is a godsend. Tons of resources and guides to help you along the way included.
Summary: I already own a Fashion Mate which I have used for the past five years. As I now have a second home I desired a second machine to avoid carrying one back and forth. I love my first machine. The newest may have been damaged in shipping.
Pros: Good Value, Great Features, Easy To Use, Familiarity
Summary: This machine is for people who actually know how to sew-not the sit and watch their machine do things people.
I tried several types of fabric on it from denim on down to a very slippery thin knit and it sewed perfect stitches at all speeds.
Pros: Good Value, Great Features, Easy To Use, High Quality, Not Made In China
Summary: I received this as a gift. My hubby knew I wanted something a little fancier than the basic singer I already have. Boy did he do a great job picking out a machine...I LOVE IT!! So easy to use, familiar Singer features, smooth sewing and quiet. I spent a whole day having fun sewing.
