    Pictures with ambitious levels of depth of field can suffer grain and noise, but it's rarely a problem during everyday fare. SkyHD is still the ultimate TV platform and a serious piece of home cinema kit. Read more

    Overall I am very pleased with the picture quality and the updates that Sky have been making to the HD box as the weeks go on, general bugs are getting fixed and touchwood, I haven’t had any problems with it since the cock-up on the first day with the viewing card. So as I said, picture quality is superb and the 5.1 surround sound on some channels and films has been great, but that doesn’t make up for the fact that at the moment new Sky HD users are not only paying...     I’ve been waiting for the prices to drop on the initial cost of the Sky High Definition box and the HD additional monthly subscription – in that time the cost of the box has about halved in price to around £150 for existing customers. The £10 additional monthly fee remains for the High Definition subscription, however I looked at it that you’re getting a much higher quality viewing experience for the sake of £2.50 per week – around the cost of your favourite... Sky HD

Sky HD is a high definition terrestrial tuner set top box. It is built with 300 GB hard drive. It enables user to receive digital TV programme content from Sky service provide.

Features

It is built with 300 GB hard drive that enables user to use 160 GB for program recording and store audio and video files; and another 140 GB is reserved for Sky Anytime services. Even more, it enables user to record up to two programs simultaneously. It provides a HDMI output that allows user to connect the device to high definition (HD) television to view the programmes in high definition image quality. Besides that, it also provides SCART and S-Video outputs that lets user to connect to standard definition (SD) TV. All HD channels are broadcast in 1080i format (though the box can be set to scale this to 720p if the user wishes), using the H.264/MPEG-4 AVC compression standard, from SES Astra and Eurobird 1 satellites at 28.2E and 28.5E in a new DVB transmission standard, DVB-S2. Additionally, it also features electronic program guide provides program guides and information. Also, it is powered by Dolby® Digital 5.1 surround sound for high quality sound production. It also features time shift which enables user to pause, rewind and replay live TV.
