Summary: Very frequent crashes. Remote often fails to respond. The most awkward, clunky, poorly-designed user interface. I trusted Samsung but this is such an inferior product. Simply not fit for purpose. In one word: rubbish!
Summary: I know someone who tried two of these and took them both back. Silly me, thinking he was just unlucky I went ahead and got one - well it is voted best Freesat+ box two years running by What Hi Fi magazine after all... Quite easy to use, had trouble tuning it at first but once that sorted was ok for while, then the problems started. 1. It Freezes/locks up - will not respond to the remote control. Only solution is to (yes, you've guessed it!) turn it off and on again.
Summary: I bought this thinking 'it cant be that bad, the reviews must just be from people who've been unlucky'. But.... It didn't work properly at all. Didn't record when set to. Lost programmes when it did eventually record them, stopped recording half way through. Menu design was really good, liked the small screen in the corner. Had high expectations because of the make of this product however, I sent it back, wishing I'd believed the bad reviews in the first place.
Summary: The library regularly wipes itself and the recommended factory reset does not help. Only saves a few recordings and now the tv guide does not go further than 24 hours. A waste of money if you can't rely on it to record. You only have to type the product into a search engine to find so many other dissatisfied customers and all of the suggested solutions are short lived. DO NOT buy!
Summary: This product is a bad advert for samsung, it's the first product of theirs I have purchased and it will be the last. Library disappears, do the reset and enter all timer events. Few weeks later library disappears, etc, etc ,etc. Timer events go missing, series link does not always work though these got better when latest software downloaded. However, the recording / timeshift of what your watching does not work now. Looking for a replacement that works.
Summary: This does not work - when u record something it will not let u watch anything else by saying 2 recordings are in progress! When there is only one programme being recorded - second u cannot watch "on demand" because it says your device is not connected! Even though I have connected it to my wifi with a wireless Internet adapter!
Summary: I bought this after much searching and revue reading. It worked really well as a freesat box and pvr except that the programme guide/record planner is next to useless. It cuts off the end of programmes nearly every time. Having to use the onscreen keyboard for searches is pretty useless as well. Neat interface though and good quality overall. Web access setup was very easy. UPDATE - after owning for about six weeks we started getting signal problems.
Summary: If you are looking for a freesat hd pvr don't buy this one, it is bug ridden with no sign of new firmware after a year - avoid it - shame on Samsung. My top picks are the Humax FOXSAT HDR if you are an enthusiast and happy to tinker with software or the Echostar HDS-600RS if you want something that just works. I have had all three boxes and I am currently sticking with the Echostar - its good.
Summary: This is simply a terrible product! It messes up recordings, fails to display channels, freezes and it's remote control cant be programmed. I bought a Samsung net-book over a year ago and was very impressed by the quality so as I was upgrading my AV equipment decided to go with Samsung, BIG BIG mistake!!! Samsung may have good build quality but the software that runs their products is awful.
Summary: I bought this box July 11. To start with it was great. The picture quality is fantastic, I can watch programs over my home network from my main PC, it was everything I wanted from a name you think you can trust. But then the box started to loose my recordings. The advice from Samsung was to do a factory reset. I am now having to reset the box twice a month. Samsung stated on their website that a firmware fix would be published at the beginning of May 12.
