Excerpt: I have a Samsung TV/monitor and recently the TV tuner (Freeview) failed. I purchased this to get TV reception again. It is connected via the HDMI 1080p input on my monitor, and now receive HD Freeview as a bonus. The small receiver and the remote control are both neat and functional. TV reception is great, and probably better than my original TV/monitor tuner.
Summary: The receiver is very easy to set up. The program guide is not the best design, but not bad either. We bought the reciever second hand and unfortunately it arrived broken. Got repaired fast though - very customer friendly. Would definitely recommend an HD receiver, the picture quality is so much better in HD.
Summary: There's a wide variety of HD Freeview boxes on the market, and I expected a great deal from this one as Philips have a longstanding high reputation when it comes to televisions and associated products. Fortunately, I wasn't disappointed. The box looks nice, and is easy to setup, and the picture quality is very good both for HD and non-HD programmes.
Summary: The picture and sound quality produced by this small box brings a new experience to your TV. Watching the world cup and Wimbledon tennis was a revelation. The unit was very easy to set up, if I can do it anyone can, and my grandchildren agreed. There are two buts, 1, This product only reaches its potential with TV screens of 32" or more. The bigger the screen the better the picture quality advantage, mine is 32" and thats great.
Summary: I've enjoyed Freeview for many years now and have always wanted it in high definition. Finally, I've a box that handles it well. I tried the Humax Freeview HD box and it was just a bad experience. This box, however, is far more impressive. It was a breeze to set up, with it auto-scanning for channels and matching my television's resolution.
