Summary: This works ok with my old Samsung LCD but not with my Pioneer Plasma at all, all I can guess is the HDMI protocols where not compatible with each other or something like that, all the unit would come up when connected to the Pioneer Plasma was Lock on the front panel and even the remote wouldnt work to even turn it on or off. Unit is fine with a set it will work with but a little over complicated to use and could be far more straightforward.
Summary: The receiver is very easy to set up. The program guide is not the best design, but not bad either. We bought the reciever second hand and unfortunately it arrived broken. Got repaired fast though - very customer friendly. Would definitely recommend an HD receiver, the picture quality is so much better in HD.
Summary: Hi I have had this receiver for some time and find mine impossible to wake up from standby, I sent back to retailer and they sent back to me saying no problem arrrrggghh in order for me to wake up box every time I have to switch off power for 5 minutes then switch on.this receiver is worst I have owned.
Summary: I bought this for £50 from Amazon (its now over £100) and am pleased with it. I previously bought the grundig and sharp hd receivers but both kept crashing and the grundig kept skipping on the hd channels. Both were sent back. The Philips thankfully is very stable and the hd picture quality is excellent (dependent on source material).
Summary: Smart unit and good quality picture, however, it is designed to 'drive' an HD rather than standard tv. The unit provides a SCART output and so it is possible to connect a non-HD tv (tv without an HDMI input) via this socket, however, because the intent of the SCART connection is to feed a VCR or similar recording device, the volume isn't controlled and the tv may not detect the digibox being powered up and switch to its SCART input.
Summary: After reading the selection of favourable reviews, and the manufacturers and Amazon webpage hyperbole for this product I was naturally expecting great things. Sadly, this was not to be the case. Oh! It's okay, a fairly decent picture and the box is quite easy to set up -although the instruction book - all in black and white - has poor quality representations of various screen situations that can be expected. This is a very poor instruction book from a major manufacturer.
Summary: I purchased this item so I could watch programms in HD, being a pensioner I couldn't afford anything more expensive, my son installed the unit but had to download more software for the unit to run properly, but you get what you pay for.
