  • Excerpt: So Humax, the workhorse of set top box recorders in the U.K, the respected Korean brand dominating the market as digital TV became compulsory here. After being forced off VHS recording because of that shift (a method I was perfectly happy with!

Luna13, Dooyoo
21 October 2013
  • Excerpt: These sort of boxes are great for those of us who cannot afford the luxury of Sky, Virgin etc. It is essentially a digital box with video recording ability. It has 160MB of hard drive which equates to roughly 100hours of recording time Setting up is fairly straight forward, once you've got it...

Ok... when it wants to be

Poodles07, Amazon
3 January 2012
  • Summary: When this box wants to work then it's ok, easy to set up and easy to use. However I have found this box to freeze ridiculously often. Sometimes it will be fine but for about 90% of the time I cannot make it through a whole day without the box completely freezing (sometimes as often as every few...

Steve, Amazon
8 August 2010
  • Summary: I used to own a Thompson PVR until recently it broke, removing the aerial cable from the back actually made the plug in the back of the pvr loose and eventually it came out completely. enter the Humax PVR as a replacement.

this is a great designed freeview plus box, just has a few flaws that almost ruin it

13 June 2010
  • Excerpt: This is our second freeview plus box, the first one we had, had to be sent back, it was a lesser known brand. We went for Humax, as it is the big player in the freeview market at the moment. The box looks good, it's unobtrusive, with clear indicator lights for statuses.

Amazon Customer, Amazon
16 November 2009
  • Summary: Some PVR-9150T's are freezing/locking up/unresponsive since national retune. Humax are working on the issue with broadcasters. They say they are to release an OTA download in november '09 to correct the fault. The problem came about due to the retune which happened a few weeks ago.

Adequate but not brilliant

Darrow, Amazon
3 November 2009
  • Summary: Not bad for the money but there are some failings. The most annoying feature is the long time it takes for the program guide to update (several minutes). This has been blamed on Freeview but I have seen other PVRs that do not have this delay.

Good to start, becoming faulty

John Meanwood, Amazon
10 October 2009
  • Summary: Bought this as Humax are supposed to be the best and have had many years practise to get it right. It started out as perfect and recorded everything I wanted, but recently has started only recording half a film or 25 minutes of a one hour TV programme, which is particularly irritating if the TV...

EPG - disappointingly slow

Alan M, Amazon
20 July 2009
  • Summary: Basically very satisfied with the product as a replaced for subsidised Thomson product which kept having to be re-set. No issues around the fan noise, which seems to have been taken care off recently, but find the delays in updating of the EPG very disconcerting.
