Summary: The Portal - the arena that gives access to BBCiPlayer and Youube, etc went down over a month ago. I contacted Humax and they say they are working on it. I purchased this primarily for the portal access. AVOID HUMAX like the plague. Unreliable, disgraceful aftercare.
Summary: This was a disastrous purchase. It has been returned with all the return postal costs to my purse. Despite 4 phone calls to the helpline, the recording system did not work. The online answers did not help. Have now bought the DTR-T1000 'YouView' system which has its bear traps. No sound if recording in HD when the original programme did not support HD. Or so it appears with a recorded 'New Tricks' on BBC1 being soundless; others programmes record visually and audibly.
Summary: I bought one of these units via Huumax direct sales. I wish I bought it via Amazon. I managed to get the unit set up and tuned etc. But I then had a problem that on initial switch on the most likely results were either no picture or a pink picture. After about 10 goes at switching it on, it would finally give me a proper picture over HDMI. I tried different HDMI leads and different HDMI inputs and tried different turn on sequences.
Summary: Having read the reviews of this product (and others) on the Amazon website, I came to the conclusion that the Humax box would be the one to have, IF Humax lived up to their promise to issue a software upgrade to fix all the niggling issues with the product. This they did in August 2010, so I took the plunge and ordered one. Installation was a breeze, and the menu system and EPG very easy to navigate.
Summary: I discovered an inherent fault on the box which results in sound being delivered via the Left channel/speaker only. When I tried to correct this in the settings menu it reverted back to the left channel/speaker very time I switched program. Humax Technical Support acknowledge the fault and say that it will be fixed via an `Over The Air' software update but it accepts that it does not have a fix yet and has no plans to release one in the near future!
Summary: I bought the Humax HD-Fox T2 from amazon. As usual the item arrived quickly. I immediately unpacked and set up the box. Everything worked well except for one important aspect. The volume output was at least half of everything else that I attach to my tv. I found this to be unacceptable. It meant me turning the volume on my tv up to near maximum just for this box. TV's are not meant to work that way. The sound became slightly fuzzy.
Summary: Change channel and the sound becomes L L even if it has been set to be L R. Unlike the other reviewer who returned his to Richer Sounds, I'm keeping mine. Humax know of the problem and will release an OTA fix eventually although no date has been set as at 30/3/10. I'd describe Humax support as unconcerned and almost offhand when I spoke to them.
