Excerpt: I have had my Humax freesat box for about 2 years now. The reason I bought it was to save money and get rid of Sky, I was finding I was only watching mostly free to air channels anyway, so was a bit daft spending money on a Sky subscription each month. The Humax Freesat box uses the same dish as my Sky box did so no need to put up a new dish, all I had to do was open the box and connect the cables, setup was very easy too, it was just a matter of entering your postcode...
Excerpt: == Price == I remember purchasing mine from eBay a couple of years ago for around £180, however it looks be more cheaper now pricing from the £109 mark. == My Experience == I remember purchasing mine when sky/Virgin prices were quite high and of course required a monthly reoccurring payment which at the time just meant more unnecessary expenses.
Summary: I used to be a Sky subscriber to get satellite TV. What a waste of money! The Humax does the job far better than my Sky Box with NO monthly subscription. I've linked to the internet using Home plugs so can access i-player etc on my older "non-smart" TV.
Summary: Great piece of kit, even we can use it and we are technology dunces. Great pictures on HD channels and so far all our recordings have worked OK. Will pay for itself in 9/10 months from cacelled Sky subs so well worth it.
Summary: Living near Grenoble I bought this to be able to benefit from FreeSat. We are pretty far south in relation to the satellite footprint, but this decoder is able to pick up 150 TV channels (including HD) and 36 radio stations. Minutes after opening the box the decoder was installed and working. The picture is great, the menus surprisingly clear and easy to use.
