Brian "Give a man a mask and he will tell you..., Amazon

Summary: All the reviews are correct in saying this is a great box; if bought from Humax themselves. http://www.humaxdirect.co.uk/ but the minute anything goes wrong, this company seems to take a firm line in using the amazon "three month" return policy, which simply is not correct. The box itself was good overall, but from a week in, the remote button 1 was not reacting too well and never worked after that, except when pressed hard and manipulated.
Summary: This unit is great as a single LNB channel machine. It will not allow you to record any 2 chosen channels. Once a channel is selected for recording it will only allow certain other channels to be viewed or recorded, it 'blanks' them out. So guess work is required as to which channel can be recorded while wanting to watch another channel. With 2 LNBs it would be correct to assume that it had 2 separate and independent channels - but that is not the case!
Pros: One off cost for box - no subscriptions required
Excerpt: Had mine for over 2 years. Got it when I quit $ky and have never looked back. iPlayer and ITV Player have been a great addition. HD Picture is great and the upscaled SD looks good as well. Sorry to here about the problems that the other reviewer has had but I have not see this at all. It is very easy to use. Only critisism is the poor remote. Get a Harmony 300 for 18 from Play dot com and all is well.
Summary: After a long wait we finally got the Humax HDR. Having used a Tivo for many years I had high expectations. Technically the box is very good, the picture quality is excellent as is the sound quality. However, the user interface is 'clunky', I must say that they could learn a thing or two from Tivo, seaching for programmes is not a good experience but works. The most dissapointing aspect of this product is the support from Humax.
