Not bad

Christopher H., Newegg
16 July 2013
  • Summary: Supermicro does require a credit card hold for a cross ship. That being said I routinely get a cross ship even a few months out of warranty when needed. I would use supermicro products all day long, and I run a tech company.
  • Pros: Good options (the different versions have lots of networking configurations). Rock solid warranty service.
  • Cons: had a few QC issues lately, still mostly arrives working.

Love this machine!

Vanessa M., Newegg
6 June 2013
  • Pros: 12 drives in a 2U server and it includes a HARDWARE raid card and a dedicated IPMI nic. I couldn't be happier! Supermicro is really nailing servers now. Usually I buy a 3ware hardware card (can't stand software raid) for our supermicro servers and generally have to re-run the sata cables. This ma...
  • Cons: None so far.

Good Luck With Warranty

Daniel H., Newegg
8 April 2013
  • Summary: Machine is listed as Windows server 2012 compatable, but the drivers for the Raid Controller aren't available from supermicro for this OS. Buy a prebuilt server from Dell or HP and only have to deal with one company for warranty
  • Pros: Price Kind of.
  • Cons: Screen just goes black and the machine is locked up. Reinstalled server 2012 3 times. Supermicro Tech support wouldn't help me because I used Kingston recommended memory (sold at newegg) instead of Supermicro tested memory (which isn't sold at newegg). I am 6 days past the 30 day mark so I cant s...

Purchased two for Proxmox servers

Andrew D., Newegg
6 January 2013
  • Pros: Not sure what happened for that other reviews, that is very atypical for supermicro. I've ordered dozens of server chassis from them over the years and never had one with problems. We purchased two of this model for a proxmox cluster, and paired them with an adaptec 6405 with the solid state bbu....
  • Cons: It was odd, in one box there was a full manual and no overall layout sheet...in the other box there was the sheet but no manual. Not a big deal though.

Sloppy work

Debbie D., Newegg
14 November 2012
  • Summary: While our experience was bad in dealing with Supermicro Systems, in no way affects how we feel about Newegg. They have been very helpful & showed true customer service, unlike Supermicro.
  • Pros: None at all.
  • Cons: Received this unit & it was faulty due to the mfg poor QA inspection. We have a offsite tech person who comes in once a week & as the system is a build your own, we were still waiting for parts to come. Unfortunately it took longer than 30 days to discover this error so we had to take it up with ...
