Joe Bethel, Newegg
3 February 2012
  • Summary: Correction from my previous post. The memory is registered not unbuffered. The HP part number is 500209-061.
  • Pros: None for the memory.
  • Cons: Wish it was either 2x1GB or 2x2GB.

User Review

Joe Bethel, Newegg
2 February 2012
  • Pros: Not sure yet. Just opened the server.
  • Cons: This what I have discovered now that I have taken delivery of the server. The 250GB drive is NOT an HP drive. It is a Western Digital drive which is not RAID certified. Furthermore, the only match found on the Newegg site is for a refurbished drive. I tried to determine the drive before ordering ...

Cheap ESXi 5.0 server w/VMDirectPath support server

N/A, Newegg
14 October 2011
  • Summary: Moved my entire lab to this box and went virtual. Added two Western Digital WD2003FYYS 2TB SATA Enterprise drives for local VMFS storage (no on-board RAID support with ESXi), another 10GB of memory and an Intel EXPI9402PTBLK PRO 1000 PT Dual Port Server NIC.
  • Pros: This is the cheapest, well built system I could find for running ESXi 5.0 with VMDirectPath. Plenty of PCIe slots, lots of room in the case and a hefty power supply. LO100i remote management included.
  • Cons: The default remote management is basic with power on/off support. However, LO100i Advanced is needed for remote console access, and requires a separate license. Take advantage of the online demo license to try it before you spend $200 and make sure it's a fit for you. I didn't like the remote con...

Great Entry Level Box

N/A, Newegg
6 October 2011
  • Summary: Overall I'm very happy with the purchase. A great box that can be upgraded to be a powerhouse. Runs a lot quieter then my older proliants. A well designed cooling system inside, air flows directly over the CPU and RAM under a baffle. Would buy another one if I had room for it.
  • Pros: -Quiet (relative)
  • Cons: -The lock needed to remove the front cover feels flimsy

Great server for the price!

Neutronis, Newegg
15 September 2011
  • Summary: Great buy for a company that has a need for a decent entry level server with some expand-ability options.
  • Pros: Affordable and decently built. Easy setup. Great for any business 5-25 employees. System actually had SBS 2011 installed and exchange 2010 which I didn't expect.
  • Cons: None so far...but definitely buy some additional RAM seeing how it's so cheap these days.
