very decent and reliable box, ideal for home lab
31 January 2015
Summary: This one is really ncie small server, powerful enough to run my home lab and quiet enough to keep it in my home office. 4G may not be ideal especially if you run a lot of services, but for $100 I got extra 8G and now it is almost perfect fit for my need. I have bunch of things running on, like mail server, btsync, all sorts of development related services (mercurial, teamcity, mongo, rabbitmq and so on) as well as few VMs (it supports hardware virtualization) and dozen...
Summary: There is no excuse for not properly listing an item. I was watching this item for a week or so. Since it was been sold by TigerDirect, I thought it would be exactly the same item as below. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=9133695&CatId=329 The processor is listed incorrectly.
Summary: I've only had this in service for a few weeks, but so far so good. Running CentOS 6.5 in a RAID 1 with a hotspare PROS Fast, energy efficient, quiet - Fast. Much faster than the 3Ghz Core2Duo desktop-chip-based server that this replaced, even with the lower clock speed and the limitations of a low power chip. We're only using this as a database server, but there's plenty of horsepower left over to run file/email/dns serving in a small office. - Energy efficient.
