Summary: MOST IMPORTANT: Do not insert drives you still need files from, because it will not convert any files into the system, and won't even prompt you about deleting files nor partitions! Total Drive Flexibility: You can set up multiple sets of drives (this is not documented!). To do this I let the system automatically set up the first set of disks, then I power off, remove the drives, insert other drives, power on, and let the system setup again.
Pros: Easy To Manage, Easy To Setup, Highly Compatible
Summary: Both the hardware and software are superior to my prior NAS, the HP MediaSmart server. Now that Microsoft has stopped development on Windows Home Server, followed my HP discontinuing their Server itself, this was the next logical thing to try for me. It is better built, easier to setup, more compact and just better designed all around. very informative lights to inform/alert you about the status of your data, well designed dashboard, and easily mounted shares.
Pros: Compact, Easy To Manage, Easy To Set Up, Fast, Highly Compatible
Summary: I use this product for some personal and business reasons:Personal: I have two MacBook Pros connected to the Drobo FS (wirelessly) for sharing photos and music between both computers. This allows use to both have access to all our media content and not have to worry about losing data if one of our computers crashes. I also have both computers backing up to the Drobo FS using Time Machine.
Pros: Easy To Manage, Easy To Set Up, Fast, Great with OxygenCloud, Highly Compatible, To create Private DropBox
Summary: I added 2 x 1TB drives to this box and plugged it into my multi-platform network. Within 2 minutes it was recognized and I was sharing files between my Mac's and my PC. I have filled up about 50% of the space and still have 3 drive slots to expand. Fast enough for me to stream video to my desktop machine. Great device!
