  • Summary: Running one of these in the 12 + 2 drive chassis config. SAS 15K's for VM and some SATA 2TB drives for backups using Microsoft DPM 2010.

  • Summary: build this out with 12 drives and you have a powerful server/storage array all in one. Hard to find these now.

  • Summary: Great servers for the price point. We use these loaded with 64GB of ram running VMWare ESXi on them. Installed with dual 6 core AMD Opterons these things ROCK! Easily can run 20 to 30 VM"s on them and they don't break a sweat.

  • Summary: I purchased a Dell R515 Server as a replacement for an old PowerEdge 4600. This system works amazing well for a Unit costing under $4000. The dual 6 Core Opterons and and 32 Gigs of RAM I ordered with it are sufficient for several virtual machines. You have multiple choices of hardware for this system, but I went with the Hot-Swappable SATA Drives to make it less expensive.
