Summary: I love my 18v Dewalt variety & was thrilled when I found this option for a drywall gun. After receiving the item I noticed immediately how cheap the front section/nose piece was. I put much thought into the new tool, researched other reviews of corded drywall drills & made my decisions; This would be fine for small installations...in which case a normal cordless screw gun/drill that most of us already own would realistically work fine.
Summary: I have not had time to use this drill. I do appreciate the fact that my NiCd battery for this drill can be used in other DeWalt drills. If this drill preforms as indicated, then I will take the word from other reviews. It is used extensively on the Mike Holmes' HGTV program, which sold me on its performance.
Summary: ... I use it as a backup gun for work and projects. Always have a plug up screw gun, but this will also be very useful in places where no power is available. That is the best reason for having a cordless screw gun. The plastic cap may not be the best, but it's servicable. Plastic caps on a deck screw gun makes sense, as you don't want a metal cap to mark the wood planks. It's a solid deck screw gun, and can be used for many other similar purposes.
Summary: I usually like Dewalt tools but I don't know if it was Amazon's fault or if it was poor quality from Dewalt. The switch for the speed control will not stay in the number 1 or number 2 position. I think Amazon sent me a tool that had been used and returned.
Summary: Works fantastic! No cord to dance around! Always being one to check/read customer reviews, for some years now I have gone with DeWalt 18v tools. Unlike some other brands that have some outstanding cordless tools and some not so good tools in their lines, DeWalt almost always gets good marks. So far, I have not been disappointed in either quality or performance as expected. DeWalt, as usual, has another cordless winner here.
Summary: I originally bought this screwdriver for quick small jobs, which could save me a few extra minutes not having to get extension cords or in areas power has been temporarily turned off...Also, I liked that it was light weight... But I find myself going to it even on large drywall jobs and I recently completed a large redwood deck with it... Screwing into drywall is a no brainer for this gun, but I was concerned how well it would countersink screws into a redwood deck...
Summary: I must start by saying I'm a big fan of the DeWalt 18v line. There isn't much they make that I don't have. When I saw this was available, I thought it would be a great addition to the tool bag. That said, it's just too heavy for all day use. They batteries last, but my arm doesn't. I can't say for sure if it's the weight of the tool or the balance, but either way, it doesn't work well for me for all day use. It is a good tool for a few screws here or there.
