Summary: I purchased the DocuMate 515 in the Summer of 2012 as a replacement for an old Panasonic that I had used for years, and literally worn out. I liked the DocuMate 515 because of its document feeder feature. It did a nice job. This week, I decided to buy a new desk top computer with Windows 8. The Xerox web site does not indicate any drivers for Windows 8. In my first call to their customer support I was told that whatever the latest drivers out there "should work".
Summary: This scanner is terrible. If it's turned off, turning it back on can take several tries. Occasionally papers that are scanned do not show up on the computer and the program has to be closed and re-started. Other times I have to "preview" a document before scanning it so it will appear. This scanner also has trouble inserting the documents from the feeder, so I have to monitor it. Waste of time, patience and money.
Summary: THIS SCANNER NEVER WORKED. DOA. TRIED TO HAVE IT SERVICED ... NO HOPE. TECHNICIAN SAYS IT IS USELESS. THE DRIVERS FOR THE SCANNER INSTALL AND UNINSTALL BY THEMSELVES. SELLER WAS VERY CRUDE AND PROVIDED NO RELIEF. STAY AWAY FROM THIS SELLER ... AND FROM XEROX PRODUCTS. THEY ARE JUST NOT WORTH A ...
Summary: I installed the software and tried to follow the tutorial, the scanner will not scan or do anything but light up. Tried removing the software and re intalling with no luck. The next step is to call xzerox for help. This scanner is a dud and I would not recommend it to anyone.
Summary: This unit was very difficult to set up. Once set up, it would slowly process the material into the computer. However if more than one sheet was fed through, the extra sheets would mysteriously erase with a notation that the operator asked them to, when in fact no such request was made. I have already purchased a Fujitsu ScanSnap and it is working very well. So, don't buy a 515 DocuMate.
Summary: Scanner is bulky, and way too heavy. I installed software, but scanner would not work. I spent over an hour on the phone with tech support, just for him to conclude that the computer was not recognizing the scanner. Tech said it was a problem with the hardware of the scanner, that it was defective, and that I should return it to the manufacturer. Since the scanner was still under warranty, the tech explained that it would be replaced with a "refurbished" model.
Don't Waste Your Money Unless the Scanner can sit on top of the Computer

Summary: I purchased a Xerox Documate 515 on Feb. 26, 2010 as my old Visoneer 9450 is not compatible with Windows 7 - nor will it be. The Documate 515 was recommended as a compatible replacement. Read all the literature and ordered it. Arrived in quick order. Due to a heavy traveling schedule however, it was not installed until March 26th. I Flatbed scanned a test a page and it scanned just fine. I did not however use the ADF to scan multiple pages.
