Summary: We were using the earlier model of this DocuMate scanner and worked very well for our office needs. But as time goes by equipment will need to be replaced from over usage and due to failing parts. As of today our office staff appreciates the functions of this new scanner and according to them, works much more better than the previous model.
Summary: This is a very high-quality, bulletproof scanner for its time. It works fine on Windows XP with the included software, Nuance OmniPage and Nuance Paperport. On Windows 7 and higher, you should only install the Driver and the OneTouch software and either purchase the Nuance software or download ScanWiz. The older versions of OmniPage Pro and PaperPort will probably not work for you. If you're reading this in 2014 or later you are buying new/old stock.
Summary: I purchased the DocuMate 515 in the Summer of 2012 as a replacement for an old Panasonic that I had used for years, and literally worn out. I liked the DocuMate 515 because of its document feeder feature. It did a nice job. This week, I decided to buy a new desk top computer with Windows 8. The Xerox web site does not indicate any drivers for Windows 8. In my first call to their customer support I was told that whatever the latest drivers out there "should work".
Summary: This scanner is terrible. If it's turned off, turning it back on can take several tries. Occasionally papers that are scanned do not show up on the computer and the program has to be closed and re-started. Other times I have to "preview" a document before scanning it so it will appear. This scanner also has trouble inserting the documents from the feeder, so I have to monitor it. Waste of time, patience and money.
Summary: I bought this scanner in August 2011. I use it to get rid of my paper records. I scan usually 20 to 60 pages every week. As of this moment it's very reliable. I strongly recommend this product for this small-medium house use. Cheers!
