Summary: This is an awesome scanner. Fast and efficient. There have been other reviewers who have had issues with reliability, but I have not. In fact, this is my second DocuMate 262i. I have had the other one for 4 years or so and have loved it.
Summary: First of All, we already have the same scanner before that's why we have decided to get the same one for the office. Customer Service from the marketplace is great. I contacted them and they replied immediately. The delivery came on schedule. The scanner has a few minor flaw, sometimes it would not respond when you press the button, you will have to go to the computer to begin the scan. Maybe this is due to device drivers or something.
Summary: We have at least 70 to 80 of this model scanner in a large outpatient Medical group. They are excellent when they are working well, but when they fail they fail hard. For the amount that these scanners cost ( the price of this unit is outlandish ) they should work trouble free for 3 years minimum. They come with a 1 year manufacturers warranty which is most definitely not long enough. We have a pile of about 20 defective ones in a closet that are less than 3 years old.
Summary: We bought one of these a year ago and after 6000 scans it has stopped scanning on duplex. I suspect that this is a problem with the drivers and "some computers". I am still not sure why this is. It may be the drivers or windows 7 or windows updates. I took it to an engineer who said it was fine.......I saw it working but when I reconnected it to my own computer it froze when scanning duplex.
Summary: I've had the DocuMate 252 for several years, which is very similar to the 262. It was a great scanner -- until I upgraded from Windows Vista to Windows 7. For some inexplicable reason, you cannot use extended USB cables when using the DocuMate scanner with Windows 7 (it stops mid-scan). The extended USB cables work fine on Windows Vista computers, but not on multiple Windows 7 computers I've tried.
