Spend more money, get a better product

kane411, Adorama
2 April 2012
  • Excerpt: I bought this product to scan all of my office paperwork and go paper-free. When I tried to install the software, it was slow going and difficult and took lots of IT to fix the problem. Once installed, the quality was lackluster. I returned this product and bought the Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500. It was more money but far superior!

Ehh scanner...breaks easily

Working from home, Staples
13 December 2010
  • Excerpt: I bought this last year. Seems like just when the warranty is over it broke. I was doing back to back scanning of a large file (100 pages) in groups of 20 pgs. Just as I was down to the last grouping it froze, shut down and never allowed me to scan anythign ever again. No 'scan' icon comes up and I can't scan using manual keys. Lost tons of documents I had scanned that day! I unistalled and re-installed drivers. Nothing worked.
  • Pros: Easy Setup, Good Resolution

Not as good as anticipated

J Galt, Amazon
23 February 2010
  • Summary: Sorry to say this product was an immediate disappointment. Problems with scan quality and software right out of the box. The bundled software is the typical junk that no one would consider purchasing as a stand alone application, thus much of the "bonus" software needed to be uninstalled immediately. Scanner speed is OK, image quality is OK but for the cost of this unit, I anticipated far greater of everything from a company like Xerox.

Mixed performance

sdr, Staples
13 November 2009
  • Excerpt: Overpriced at Staples - I found it online priced $150 less. Bought for speed and duplex scanning. It does scan quickly and clearly at 200dpi with no double-feeds, but it was impossible to get thinner papers to feed straight unless I scanned at 400dpi (much slower) or added a thicker plastic carrier sheet (which added time and made the scans a bit less crisp). Included Paperport was ridiculously slow when trying to re-order pages in a large (>200 page) document.
  • Pros: Easy Setup, Good Resolution
  • Cons: Poor Software, Price, Skewed scans

Good scanner bad software partner.

Edward M. Lee, Amazon
7 March 2008
  • Summary: The scanner itself is pretty good. The software is not bad but can be very slow. The software support is pretty sketchy. The company 'Nuance' / Visioneer whatever company name that provides the paperport, onetouch drivers charge $10 an email. Also it seems that they are a bit of upseller. I just feel they built in things to their software that will require you to seek support so they can make more money. e.g.

Can't Get Replacement ADF Pad

C. Mason, Amazon
25 January 2008
  • Summary: This scanner worked wonders the first day I used it. I scanned about 200 pages that all turned out nicely. There were a few jams but were easy to fix. The second day everything went to pot. There is a little rubber pad that keeps the pages going straight. This part stopped doing its job after about 60 pages and then everything went squeegee. I went to the Xerox support website that offers replacement parts. They didn't have the part!

Can use some Improvements

John (Rusty), Amazon
20 December 2007
  • Summary: Pros...It took less than 15 minutes to set up and install, it's compact, it can be fast(see below) and it has the duplex feature. Cons...I'll bore you to death. For starters the One Touch driver fails to provide a decent PDF image, if you want to use PDF format, you will have to use the Twain driver, I contacted tech support twice and on both calls they advised to uninstall and reinstall the drivers(quick way to get rid of you), needless to say it didn't fix the problem,...
