Excerpt: I purchased this for personal use and the portability. Well worth it! I was able to scan an entire yearbook for my upcoming reunion and of course pictures. I am truly enjoying my portable scanner. The docking station is a plus.
Pros: Accurate Color, Easy To Set Up, Excellent Software, Good Bit Depth, Good Resolution, Widely Compatible, Works on Network
Summary: First, this device will not function - at all - without a memory card in it. The directions state that the card is necessary, and you might think that the card is only needed for when you want to use the scanner as a wand. Not so. Even when the scanner is in the docking station, you need a memory card or the thing won't work. Second, my scanner says "SVP" on it, not "VuPoint". The scanner comes with OCR software that is suitable for very light work.
Summary: This scanner has enabled me to scan old family photos with rigid matting. I was able to feed other photos through the docking station rapidly. It will allow me to do more research on my family history by taking the wand in my purse to libraries and town offices to scan documents. There was a learning curve and found one mistake I was making was using the wand too slowly causing it to shut off.
Summary: The product does what it claims - gives a good PDF or JPEG Image. The ability to scan far away from the computer, and the ease of transferring images from the MicroSD card, is a big plus. A 4GB card holds an awfully large number of images. But, the challenge is to maintain steadiness and straightness of the scanning motion - and for folks with unsteady hands, it is difficult. This is made worse if the object being scanned is not flat, eg., a book.
