Excerpt: No where on the packaging does it state that you NEED the SD card, but you do. Once you get the card this thing works fairly well for newer clean photos. Scanning on a flat surface can be a challenge if the photo is tiny, hard to keep it from moving. The scanner works like a storage device. The scanned images are stored on the device until the card is full, then must be connected/transfered to your computer for viewing and emptying the card so you can continue scanning.
Summary: I purchased the magic wand because of good reviews written, but I found that even though it was easy to scan and to down load to my computer, the picture produced was poor. There were white blotches in the center.
Probably the best thing out there, but still not great

Summary: For what it does, I don't think there is anything out there that does it better, but really that isn't saying too much. I bought this scanner as a substitute for a textbook since it the text book cost over $200, and this thing only cost about $100, after I got the case and Micro SD card.
Summary: After I installed the software & read the manuals and learned how to operate the product, I realized that I can't make it function because it needs a microSD (storage chip). It's much like selling a car and asking the customer to buy the tyres..! I couldn't test the product and thats why i decided to provide an average rating, although i was not happy for that. Could the manufacturer not increased the price for few dollars and included the chip!
