Summary: In spite of the name, there is nothing magic about this product. The quality of the scan depends on how carefully and smoothly you move the wand. It is very easy to goof and have entire lines of text not be readable. If you want a quality scan, you have to use the docking station. And, there is a major problem with the docking station convenience. You must plug the USB cable into the docking station to power it, but, you can't transfer the scans to your computer!
Summary: I bought this to use in addition to my sheet-fed and flatbed scanners. I thought it would be a quicker way to get through all the receipts that pile up and to keep in my purse for on-the-go scanning. I found it didn't make them flat enough to get a straight scan, so I had to do it several times to get it right.
Summary: Good unit except that it does not feed items, such s a simple piece of paper, straight. Nearly every page is crooked. Scanner however is MUCH better with docking station and you receive a clearer copy.
Summary: I really wanted to love this device but the wifi feature was dodgy and it "disconnects" you from your internet while it "communicates" with your computer. You don't have to use that feature, but that is why i purchased this unit. I already have a scanner that has everything else that is pretty handy. I liked the freedom of the wand for certain reasons but it's nice to have the stability of something that "sits" while you feed it as well.
Summary: I really wanted to like this scanner. The fact that it has a feeder and is also a wand scanner seemed to be the best of both. However, I could not get this scanner to work with my computer. It worked with other computers but not the computer I needed it to work with. I tried to get "technical" assistance from VuPoint but they were of no help and could not resolve the issue so I returned it. There were a few nuances I did not like.
Excerpt: No where on the packaging does it state that you NEED the SD card, but you do. Once you get the card this thing works fairly well for newer clean photos. Scanning on a flat surface can be a challenge if the photo is tiny, hard to keep it from moving. The scanner works like a storage device. The scanned images are stored on the device until the card is full, then must be connected/transfered to your computer for viewing and emptying the card so you can continue scanning.
Excerpt: If it was used with the flat scanner board that I had gotten with it, it may have worked fine. I was scanning an open book and no matter how slow or what setting I had put it on, I could not get a clear print out. It had shadows all over the place and a lot of blurry spots. When I copied the outer firmer cover of the book, the picture came out a lot better.
