Summary: I have an older version of this same model #. Visioneer no longer supports it, stating "Scanners with Part Number 85-0117-000 are not compatible with Windows 7 and Vista. Consider Trade Up for a newer model." To trade up means paying to ship the thing back to Visioneer at my expense and waiting 6 weeks for some sort of rebate. Terrible!
Summary: I love this scanner...it is fast, generally bullet proof. There are a few weird things about it, like it doens't like to be plugged into UPS. It prefers to be plugged into a stip of the wall. It does lose connection occasionally (not often). The fix is to power off the scanner and turn it back on with the switch onthe back. It takes 10 seconds...MAX.
Summary: I have used PaperPort/Visioneer scanners for close to a decade, and loved them all. For some reason, though, their code gets worse and worse and their "support" simply does not exist. For some reason, in order to install a new scanner, you have to remove all vestiges (even hidden ones) of the prior scanner software and drivers. Forget installing TWO scanners (I have both a Visioneer flatbed and a Strobe XP 450).
Summary: To Jaggers's comments, I would only add (i) after a couple of years the sheet-feeder hardly works. The technical support line is no help with this. (ii)you cannot do anything else while your documents are scanning, as the software fills the screen with an annoying always-active window which, if you press any key while your document is scanning, cancels the scan.
