Summary: Our need for a scanner was just to attach documents to our accounting files. We didn't need extremely high quality for photographs or publications. This little scanner is amazing! We put the document in the feeder, hit a button, and it sends it to a screen where we can save it with a file name. We're talking mere seconds here, and the setup time is inconsequential, too.
Don't spend $$$ for the other scanners, BUY THIS ONE ! ! !

Summary: This unit took some fineness to get it to work with Windows 7 but when it works it works beautifully !!! The PaperPort Software that comes with it is useful for many more things than just the scanner. The scanner itself sells it self, at a fraction of the price of the "Neat Desk", has a broad range of uses. Others have seen how well it works scanning attachments into accounting software, and have purchased these units for themselves and the Institutions they work for.
Summary: Like others, I am a long time user of Paperport software and strobe scanners, I have tried a lot of combinations and the Strobe Pro and Paperport 9 on Windows XP was the high point, it's been downhill from there. The appeal has been speed and ease of use, I have scanned all my receipts and documents for years because it was so fast and easy, silly me, I thought the duplex feature of the X300 might be nice, but the idiots design it so you need a plastic carrier for...
Nightmare! Don't buy. Read the reviews and believe.....

Summary: If I could give this no stars, I would. I'm a 20+ IT engineer and this should have been easy. BUT, it wasn't. I ordered this scanner because I was trying to file my "important" documents somewhere other than in paper form. The price seemed reasonable so I bought it BEFORE reading all the reviews. Besides, with my experience, I almost always can figure it out. Not this time. In short, I spent two weeks trying to get this to work.
Summary: This is an acceptable scanner if you're looking for something small to scan an occasional page or two but the page feed design is awful. Jams frequently, has no feed delay setting, skews constantly. I normally need to scan the same page 2 or 3 times before it gets it right. For the high price avoid... Visioneer's earlier model desk scanners were much better designed.
Summary: I agree with all the other reviews that it as faults in paper feeding, paper size, etc. but while I managed to deal with all that and still make good use of the thing - that was gone once I got Windows 7. Even even installing all the updated drivers from Visioneer's web site if I got one feature to work another wouldn't. If I wanted scan soft the one touch didn't work, if I wanted one touch it would only scan to certain outputs..
Summary: The Scan camera is not the most reliable, by that I mean in the middle of scanning it will occasionally stop picking up the image leaving you with a half-blank image. I basically gave up on the duplex scanning all together. I used to be a bug fan of Visioneer.
