Summary: For the price this scanner is a good choice if it is for occasional use. If you regularly scan many receipts a day, look elsewhere.
Pros: We bought this scanner from Newegg in 2010. It is still a general-purpose workhorse in the office. It can give either fast, OK quality scans or somewhat slower, high resolution ones. The software bundled with the scanner is not worth installing. You get an outdated and crippled version of PaperPo...
Cons: As others mention, scanning receipts can be frustrating. The scanner allows inserting papers into either the top feeder slot (used for multiple sheets) or directly into the front of the scanner. The front-load slot is useful for a single page, as the scanner automatically grabs the sheet. Flimsy ...
Summary: You can't deskew it like some other scanners and often the page is angled although I fed it in straight. Clear picture with white background unlike another scanner I had which tinted the page. Easy to use.
Summary: When scanning duplex on a cable longer than 6' the scanner errors out and has to be reset every few pages. I've ran into this with other scanners as well so I probably has nothing to do with this model. Best to just use the included USB cable.
Pros: This is a decent scanner for the price. I've been using one for a couple years now with no real complaints when it comes to regular paper.
Cons: When scanning receipts or anything on that thin waxy type of paper the scanner sometimes just crumples them up.
Pros: Setup was quick and easy. Paper misfeeds are rare. Too bad this item became deactivated a week after I bought it. On the bright side I found a PlusTek machine that works just as well if not better than this one, at a lesser cost.

Summary: I am often in need of scanning multiple documents, and the multi-sheet feeders of the various printers that I have had have fallen short--in a big way. They jam and you end up having to SLOWLY scan each document separately, flipping the docs over and having a separate file for each side/document.
Summary: Comments about Visioneer Strobe 500 Sheetfed Scanner: I bought this for business and it works good. The only con I have is that I had to do some research to find out what some of the programmed buttons do. The research was easy. I would recommend this product.
Pros: Easy Setup, Excellent Software, Good Bit Depth, Good Resolution
