Summary: The setup went poorly for us on this scanner. It kept getting hung up with error messages and now we are not sure if everything loaded correctly. I can not get it to scan to PDF even though customer support insists this should work. The customer support is very friendly but their hours are such that I can never talk to them when I am home with the scanner.
Summary: I have been using this for 2+ years. It was fine for occasional scans (10+ /week), but the last several months have been one feeding problem after another. I never count on it being able to scan immediately. The feeder does not grab the paper without 2-3 tries. It has also started jamming. I took it apart, cleaned it, and carefully re-assembled. No reduction in problems.
Summary: I have three of these machines for over two years. The longer I have them the less well the hardware and software works. The scanning software often locks up and to remedy this I have to either exit and re-run the program, turn the scanner off and on or sometimes reboot the computer before it will scan again. I am continually putting pressure on the paper when I insert it into the feeder so that the first page scans.
Pros: Solidly built, produces quality images. provides options on resolution/file size trade-off plus choice of black and white, gray scale and color. Will produce pdf files and has a primative drawing program to edit files.
Cons: Document feeder often does not grabe the first sheet. Scanning software often locks up.
Summary: I do a lot of research before I buy something like this, I compared many choices before deciding this was the one based on my overall needs. And I did something else, I bought a local Neat Receipt to try out the whole concept of scanning in everything, to make sure I was headed down I path I wanted to travel. Well, the Neat Receipts was/is great! It made me comfortable ordering exactly the right scanner I wanted knowing this concept was going to be a very good thing.
