terrible order fulfillment

Robert P., Newegg
11 February 2013
  • Summary: Verified product configuration on newegg website that ADF was included, as well as provantage, amzn, e bay, and visioneer, and newegg clearly shipped me the wrong product and a used product. Tried to call, closed. Tried to chat (supposed to be open until midnight), unavailable. Had to resort to the infamous email based assistance.
  • Pros: None
  • Cons: Ordered product, which is supposed to include the ADF. Newegg not only shipped me the scanner only version without the docking station and the ADF, they shipped me a product which had been previously shipped to someone else. It still had the shipping label to the original purchaser on the manufacturers original packaging, which was partially crossed out with black marker! I can still read the name and address!!! Now that I need a replacement, they're out of stock. Tot...

Useless for a Mac

subseaguy "byrdml", Amazon
8 July 2012
  • Summary: After having used Visioneer products for many years on Windows platforms, I assumed Visioneer support for Mac applications would be as advertised. Don't believe it. No Mac documentation, no Mac info on website. The scanner would not even work with one of the bundled applications. Spent 4 hours trying to make this work. Sticking with NeatWorks and Neat scanners for my Mac's.

Looks like office equipment but don't be fooled!

J Adams, Amazon
23 June 2011
  • Summary: I bought the Visioneer Strobe 500 after considerable research and felt confident in my decision by its Editor's Choice rating from PCMag. This was one of the very few mid-range scanners that includes the WIA driver which is required by the document management program that my company uses.

A Very Poor Performing Scanner

M. D., Amazon
9 August 2010
  • Summary: I had great expectations for the Strobe 500, but it has been nothing but trouble for me. I have called tech support numerous times because the S500 will not access the software after shutting down my computer. This occurs sporadically for me because I do not scan many documents. Even though S500 appears under imaging devices, the S500 does not recognize the software. Technical support walks me through the process of reinstalling the software.

MAC support misrepresented

Vincent Alberico, Amazon
4 December 2009
  • Summary: First off, good points: Build quality feel solid. The device firmly fits into the docking base and scans fast. As a recent Mac convert, I was looking for a full feature scanner for the Mac. I primarily intended to use the scanner to rapidly scan receipts and invoices. I purchased this unit because it claimed to produce searchable PDFs. Now for the bad news... First off, no drivers for Mac!!! No TWAIN or ISIS support. Only a third party product ExactScan Lite is bundled.
