Durable and long lasting

Brian, Amazon
26 February 2014
  • Summary: I have owned this scanner for probably ten years and has never let me down. The bulb is still good as new. I have used this scanner at home with moderate use making sure to shut it off when not in use. It obviously is not the newest and fastest scanner but for me it has been time tested.

Average scanner.

Amazon
5 December 2007
  • Summary: This scanner seemed a bit bulky when I got it, the CanoScan N1240U Flatbed Scanner only weighs 3 pounds as compared to 9 for this one. It was easy to set up, just installed the software and it was compatible with my Windows XP Professional computer.

easy to use but a little bit slow. Bulky.

Liping Wang, Amazon
14 November 2007
  • Summary: Visioneer never states the scanning speed of this scanner. I test it once scanning 4"x6" photo at 300dpi (color). 12 sec to see the preview, and 22 sec to finish scanning and date transfering. But this is a cheap scanner equipped with USB 1.1, what do you expect. For your info.

Not durable and very slow

April, Amazon
10 November 2007
  • Summary: It lasted less than a year before it died. Before that, it was slow, noisy and cumbersome. Poor tech support from the manufacturer.

The scanner I received had obviously been used.

Jeffrey C. Wiseman, Amazon
3 November 2007
  • Summary: The scanner I received had obviously been used. Worse yet it was ship unlocked (there is a lock on the bottom to keep the scanner in alignment during shipping). Tech Depot was good about taking it back and even sent a UPS label to return it.

EXCELLENT Scanner

Mayet, Amazon
4 August 2007
  • Summary: I've had this model scanner since 2003 and it's the best scanner I've ever used. In fact, this is my 2nd version of the same model. The negative templates for the 1st one were lost in a move, so I bought a 2nd one to get the negative templates.

No free tech support for any time period.

Wallace F. Werner, Amazon
23 July 2007
  • Summary: I bought this scanner because there was no driver update for my 7600 model parallel port scanner for my new computer with Windows XP . As usual the software now for operating new hardware is not any good. I have tried to use the Scan Negative option.

Don't buy it

Paul G, Amazon
10 July 2007
  • Summary: When this scanner works it does a fair job. Prepare to listen to LOTS of noise and lots of scans with nothing but a black strip in the center of the output. More importantly it is now obsolete and out of production. I had to reinstall Windows XP and was never able to get the scanner to work again.

Bre, Amazon
12 May 2007
  • Summary: It's a nice scanner but the software is ten years old and won't function with today's operating systems. I have one and can't get it to work with computers with OS after XP. supposedly you can finagle a fix to get it to work with some systems by tricking your computer but why bother paying full...
