Usable for black and white, terrible on colour

Michael Collinson, Amazon
9 January 2014
  • Summary: Plustek make some great products, this was not one of them, unless I had a faulty version. Good quality negative/slide scanners are expensive and often based on old technology like SCSI so I have never been able to justify buying one for personal use to eventually digitise all the family photos.

Had to send it back

reviewer4, Amazon
1 September 2010
  • Summary: Saw some other reviews for this item but decided to go for it. I found the case to be sturdy for what it was. The instructions were abismal, nowhere was there any help to get it going.

up to expectation

tony archer, Amazon
21 August 2010
  • Summary: I needed to scan some old slides so did not want to spend too much. The Plustek F50 went on without bother and did the slides beyond expectation. I call this value for money without frills.

Plustek SmartPhoto F50

C. Dawson "Trev Dawson", Amazon
12 May 2010
  • Summary: Easy to use but could have done with better instructions to save time having to play around to discover how it worked. In the end I returned this model as I needed something with better quality reproduction - even the software included with the scanner did not give the desired result so now saving...

Works with Windows 7 64 bits Core2Duo T6600 laptop and delivering excellent results

frhout "frhout", Amazon
14 March 2010
  • Summary: This is a lightweight plastic box made in China, powered by a USB lead, with an instruction manual, one rack for four slides and another for six negatives. The CDRom driver didn't start installation automatically, so I had to follow the instructions step by step: right click on My Computer ...

Communication failure

A. S. Lucas, Amazon
8 March 2010
  • Summary: Plustek SmartPhoto F50 Compact 1800 DPI Film Scanner I got nowhere with this product and had to return it to Amazon - possibly faulty. There are precise instructions for setting up and loading software, which went fine, but then directions cease.

Vista 64

Joy Batesby, Amazon
8 March 2010
  • Summary: Has anyone tried to use this with Vista 64? I've spend days (literally)trying to get it to work...it sometimes does the pre-scan, sometimes not, and then freezes. I will try and download the MAC software and try it on my laptop.

Simple to use

Mr. Timothy R. Davies, Amazon
1 February 2010
  • Summary: Really is good value for money, works straight out of the box. Images are very good except where there is bright sunlight on skin - then can be blanched. Bought it to enable speedy transfer of slides to digital and it does just that.

Review

Appaloosa "Deb", Amazon
11 January 2010
  • Summary: I bought this product as a gift for my husband. He found it easy to set up, but the software leaves a bit to be desired, requiring a bit of tweaking with the advanced settings to get a good image. A second negative feeder would prove very useful. An easy to use product.
