Summary: When the scanner arrived, it had several warning about unlocking the scan head before use. When I went to unlock it, it was already unlocked so it shipped that way. it took a while to set up the scanner but it worked for about three hours and then the head hung up. I had to turn it off and turn it back on, the belt would grind and finally move back to the home position. I was hoping it was a one time event and continued to use it.
Pros: May be a good scanner, but it is not as described.
Cons: This is not a book scanner. ProTek has a few models designed to scan books and this is not one of them. I ordered this based on the company description and was disappointed to find that the scanner does not resemble a book scanner at all. It is simply a large format scanner.
Summary: The driver for this scanner is only compatible with older versions of OSX operating systems. I tried to contact the company to see if they would update the driver software anytime soon and didn't get a response. In terms of scan quality, the surface area is large, but the resolution is not very good. Colors and edges become highly pixelated. So, this is actually not a good scanner for any kind of graphics professional.
Summary: Hopeless. Poor software, poor colour resolution, has the feel of something built 10 years ago. Utterly failed to do my modest project and I breathed a sigh of relief when I managed to pass it on via amazon to some other poor sap like a hot potatoe. I didn't think trash like this was still made.
