Plustek’s OpticFilm 7600i 35mm Scanner; A Scanner/Software Workflow
1 September 2001
Excerpt: I’ve been testing and reporting on film scanners for almost 20 years, and names like Imacon, Kodak, Nikon, Microtek, and UMAX all come to mind. A more recent entrant is Plustek; their 7600i is the only new, modern dedicated 35mm film scanner to come out recently, so it demanded attention.
Summary: The Plustek OpticFilm 7600i SE looks and operates like the 7200i we've already tested, but this scanner has three major differences. One; faster scanning times, two; a higher dynamic range and three; multi-scan. If you already have the 7200i you may not feel it worth the investment, especially if the multi-scan was what was attracting you to the product, but if this is your first scanner purchase you will not be disappointed. The results above speak for themselves.
Pros: High quality scans, Small and robust feel, Value for money, Quiet while scanning, Storage case
Cons: Dust removal could be more effective, Multi-scan not effective
