Customer Service Issues

Joel Trombley, Amazon
11 September 2009
  • Summary: I bought this scanner to scan texts onto my laptop in order to avoid lugging textbooks around every day. To that effect the scanner works as described. 9 months after purchase I developed a "hot spot" on the scanner sensor causing a bright streak to run down all of my scans. If you read reviews posted elsewhere online, you'll see that this streaking in not uncommon. And this is where things get ugly. PLUSTEK customer support is abysmal.

Unique solution to book scanning problem, but not yet perfect

Ryuji Suzuki, Amazon
21 June 2008
  • Summary: If you have to scan books, this is probably the best option below a few thousand dollars. It indeed scans book pages without the dark lines around the binding line. If you have pages with contents printed very close to the binding line, you may have to adjust the scanning area and the book position, but most of the time, you have more than 5mm of blank margin near the binding line, and there is no problem. The image quality, build quality, scan speed, etc.

Good Book Scanner for the Price, but UNSTABLE Software

awheat2000, Amazon
29 August 2007
  • Summary: If you read other reviews saying the software is unstable, DO BELIEVE THEM. I took my chances and bought it anyway. I found out they were right. You can (and should) consider purchasing some other software and just leaving the CDs in the box (except the driver). I have a lot of thick books to scan (500-2000 pages each) and I'd say the software crashes at least 3 to 5 times per book (and that was AFTER installing the patch from the web site - it was much worse with the...

Okay, but not great.

M. Giles, Amazon
18 January 2007
  • Summary: If you've ever had to scan a book, you'll appreciate just how difficult it can be on an ordinary flatbed scanner. This scanner does go a long way to make book scanning a lot easier. Build quality of this scanner is on par with most really low budget scanners, but guessing that you're not planning to knock nails into a wall with it - that shouldn't be much of a problem, but having said that, I don't fancy its chances in a commercial environment..

User Review

Segebo, Yandex
20 September 2009
