Bad quality product

Theofilactos Petros Oikonomou, Amazon
14 May 2009
  • Summary: The product is of bad quality. When I try to connect it to my computer it does not operate most of the times at once. The connection circuit is problematic. Is there a way to replace it with an operational one?

Good idea. Battery didn't work. Cust. Service=worse ever

R. Allen "arconat", Amazon
17 April 2008
  • Summary: Battery didn't ever charge properly. So the thing doesn't work unless I have it plugged into a computer. So a waste of time really. Now I have been told by Planon that it's going to take '8-12 weeks' before I can get an exchange from Planon. I think that's pathetic. And judging by the poor, poor customer service, I am expecting to be waiting for far more than 8-12 weeks.

Poor scanning quality, frustrating controls and software

Sirbu Mihai, Amazon
23 September 2005
  • Summary: I am a student and I bought DocuPen thinking I could scan library books or part of books, convert them to PDF and have my own collection of readings, with my annotations and highlights on them. Fat chance... First of all, it looks very cheap and not very solid (very cheap-looking plastic, poor finish).

Sorry to be a wet blanket

drwam, Amazon
13 August 2005
  • Summary: Bought it. Tried it. Returned it. Scanning was very difficult to control and it was too easy to have areas of compression or where the scan is stretched. I would have thought that a well designed device could compensate for variations in scan speed. I may have been able to practice further and get better results, but I probably have less patience than the others extolling this product.

"Too quirky to be useful"

CNET
12 January 2005
  • Pros: Does a barely adequate job of copying, with just enough resolution(100-200dpi)for OCR. Small size is its best feature.
  • Cons: Copies very few "dense" pages at "high" resolution. User has no way of knowing whether what was scanned is useable until the data is downloaded. Not so good if you are visiting a distant library, museum or such. If the download fails, you must go back t
