The COOLSCAN V ED, which measures 3.8 x 6.8 x 12.4 inches (W x H x D) and weighs approximately 6.6 pounds, is compatible with Windows 98 Second Edition, Windows Millennium Edition, Windows 2000 Professional, Windows XP, and Mac OS X version 10.1.5 or later. It connects to computers via USB 2.0.
The Nikon COOLSCAN V ED film scanner is equipped with an advanced image processing algorithm for color negative film. It scans films at a speed of 38 seconds and also offers Quick Autofocus (AF) and Quick Preview. It can scan 35-millimeter slides with mounts that are 1.0 to 3.0 millimeters thick and 49.0 to 50.8 millimeters wide. It also scans 35-millimeter film strips, APS (IX240) films, and glass slides for microscopes. Its output can be in full-color or grayscale at 8 or 16 bits per channel.
The standard package of the Nikon COOLSCAN V ED comes with an MA-21 slide mounter adapter and an SA-21 strip film adapter.

This product is aptly named, 'Coolscan'. It is THE coolest. We just purchased this puppy and are beginning to digitize our old 35mm slides. It has been a couple of decades since we even looked at some of these images, so this is like revisiting dear old friends. All the good things they say about this scanner is true... Now the bad. It will NOT work on vista 64 bit and it is not supported by Nikon for this operating system. I would forgive Nikon if this were a cheep scanner but at these prices it is unforgivable. Read more
