Summary: Scans very well. When I open the box, set it up, ran my first scan I found some specks of dust on the inside of the glass. Called Mustek for support, I was they would get back to me. After weighting for some time no support. They ignored me and I have yet to hear from them.
Summary: Great scan quality, excellent for museum-quality archive image scanning. I just wish it came with better software. The image preview is really tiny and you can't expand the window. It does not integrate well with Macs, forcing you to use it's own software, rather than allowing you to use the superior Apple Image Import application. I can live with it though for the sake of the scan quality.
Summary: This scanner was advertized as being completely compatible with Mac Apple computer - but it could not batch scan into PDF files. I've been trying to correct the problem with the company for 5 weeks - and no resolution. My phone calls and e-mails are not returned, and the company doesn't seem to have any idea what they're doing. This is so frustrating. If I had known how unresponsive this company was, I would not have purchased this product.
Summary: Scans well, build very sloppy. I had returned one that arrived broken. This one developed the same problem after sitting on my desk for a few months. I had to open it up and replace the glass that had dropped out. Very sloppy build quality for something this expensive.
Summary: The hardware may or may not be fine? I cannot ell you. Because the accompanying software that operates it is a joke. It is extremely inflexible. It will only allow for single page, one at a time scans as tiff files. There is not a way to make multi-page pdf files, which is what I need it to do. Also, Mustek's tech support is essentially nonexistent. For several days I tried calling their tech support line.
Summary: It's sure handy to have a larger size scanner. The resulting scans seem to frequently have a slight blue tint, but I can usually correct that with my Adobe program. Seems to be a good scanner for the price.
